Was shopping for a laptop for Mum for light every day use. Looks like great value at the price point.

Good specs, but the keyboard and chassis sucks.
why?
if those sucks then it will be a pain to use no matter how good spec is
@OldSchoolHarry
I can't speak specifically of this model, but I was playing around with the offerings at Office Works earlier this week and tried a cheaper Lenovo, perhaps an IdeaPad slim and yeah the keyboard sucks. The keys are fairly springy and have a teeny bit of actuation force which is the only keyboard metric it would have above a $349 acer/hp/asus
The travel is TINY and it's just plain unpleasant to type with, I have a G9 Thinkpad X1 Carbon which has terribly short travel and yet this one feels somehow worse, whether build quality, or just generally hardness that you really feel when typing
That said for the price point I'd still be tempted, particularly for a less computer-ry friend - good IO, decent touchpad, has a numberpad.
Top bezels feel cheap and are large, which I imagine makes the laptop feel bigger and cheap compared to business grade lenovos. Personally I would avoid almost exclusively because of the up and down arrow keys being squished together (my biggest gripe of the current market)
IdeaPad build is plastic and breaks, I had lots of cracks in my old one and broken corner.
Great summary. The keyboard is terrible to type with, horrible keys, short travel, so spongey. Chassis bends and feels very cheap.
Unfortunately the person who negged me has never used a ThinkPad or any other laptop in their life it appears.
@Typical16-bitEnjoyer: Yeah I checked my notes and the cheap laptop I was looking at was actually a HP similar to this which had springier keys than the Lenovo V15
They have the same ugly top bezel, hence my mistake. actually quite similar (shit) computers in a few ways
Regarding the neg, I wouldn't be surprised it was OP, who unbeknownst to you, likely had the 'puter in his cart and was waiting for some OzB opinions, and then your reply didn't detail and he was stuck waiting. Not your fault, but in my younger years I woulda done the same.
can you share more specific details?
Freedomj summed it up better than I could above.
V series has a very flimsy chassis, although it is on par with other laptops in this price range.
Screen appears to be IPS 300 nits, which is decently bright. It is probably 45% NTSC though so don’t expect good colors.
Battery is very tiny, 38whr.
I would implore you to spend more money to get a much better machine at ~$1k, but if you can’t then this isn't a bad choice for the price
Great summary
