Cheapish Stick Vacuum Cleaner

Any thought on a stick vacuum cleaner that works well? Cordless would be great, but honestly, i would not rule out corded. Especially if in case the battery goes, you can connect the cord and it'll still run.

Considerations

  • Stick vacuum
  • $150 or so
  • Cordless - great, preffered - but needs to be a reputable brand to the point i know i can get replacement batteries in 3 years. Corded will be considered. Especially if it can run cordless (battery) and corded.
  • At least 30+ minutes on 'low', and it should run at least 'medium' for 20 minutes.
  • Won't spaz at pet hair. But if i have to empty the bin each run because of it, i don't mind.
  • Recharges in 6 hours or less

Nice, but not really necessary

  • Hot swappable battery (aka, just a battery that's easy to swap out for a newly charged one.
  • Ability to stand upright on it's own (aka, oops, gotta answer a call, lock on place upright, and it will stay where you left it, without falling over)

Thanks.

    • Don't suppose you can advise on the weight?
Does it work on tile and carpet?

      • 0.94kg according to the manual.

      • Just get a cheap Kmart 1800W bagless vacuum cleaner for $49

        Seriously….
Unless you buy a good Dyson Stick you atre wasting your money!

        Stick vacs are rubbish otherwise

        • not true ..i brought LG cordzero for about $550, 3 years ago n it’s great , picks up that much fur

Can confirm these are terrible. Thankfully the Ozito/Bunnings no questions asked returns applies.

      • How so? I'm tempted because I've got the batteries and my Dyson's shitting the bed.

        • +1

It's really just a shop vac. It was very unimpressive on carpet and rugs. Suction was poor.

        • Is that the Dyson ball cleaner? Have heard bad things about that one?

          • @Joey2scoops: V7 animal origin. Litany of failures, culminating in the battery only lasting 5min on low now.

        • apparently the ryobi stick vac are good

      • I've seen some stellar reviews and some bad ones….

Plus i don't think it works on carpet….

        • +1

Just had a look at the reviews. Ignore all the "1-2 review" peeps and you get a clearer picture.

$150 is probably the sticking point on getting a known brand, but maybe this Beko one? https://saveonappliances.com.au/products/beko-practiclean-po…

Beko have been around a while and make products for bigger companies. Probably better than the 50 randomly branded ones on Amazon around the same price.

Alternatively, I'd go a used Dyson and get a new battery (or an adapter and use an Ozito battery).

  • Lublue Lu L8?

    It's listed on ebay at ~$170 https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/335288318357

On my ebay plus page is a message that says "AU$135 with code CBTFY20"

But when I try the code it comes up with "Voucher expired". I hate this weasel worded gotcha crap.

    • +3

Yes, that has expired. It's the sellers fault for including it in the subtitle. What a bunch of idiots.

      • +3

On the upside I now have the price point for the L8.

        Patience, Grasshopper, patience…..

    • Old Dr. Who is on, and I'm looking at these things on eBay…
So there's the 23kpa version of the same brand Dyson knockoff, it goes through as $99.99 (std delivery) using LUB20OFF1.

Is it enough suction? Dunno. Reckons 15-40 min runtime and a removable battery pack though.

  • I have a Bosch series 6 and am happy with it https://www.bigw.com.au/product/bosch-serie-6-rechargeable-s… I think I payed less than this though. Doesn’t do a deep clean but picks up dust and crumbs for sure. It does have replaceable battery. I have it wall mounted next to the laundry and it looks nice in terms of colour/design.

What are you vacuuming? Hard floors? Deep pile carpets and rugs? Low pile?

    • tile and…whatever cheap carpeting is. Low pile?

  • +1

If you want something decent, you're going to have to double your budget.

  • +1

apparently the kmart stick vac $149 has great reviews

  • +1

hmm… I'm also looking for something in this price range between $150-250.

Unfortunately some of the old ozbargain favourites like the viomi a9 and dreame vacuums, are no sold or have gone up in price.

The last kmart stick vacuum I got wasn't great, but not sure if the latest models have improved?
