Panama Hacienda La Esmeralda – Palmyra
From the famous Hacienda La Esmeralda, known for it's spectacular Geishas and Esmeralda Specials. This is a traditional Boquete coffee that is also exceptional. Palmyra grows on the slopes of the Barú volcano, in rich volcanic soils, in the area known as Palmira. This coffee is almost entirely of the Catuai varietal, and comprises approximately 70% of our crop. With a medium body and medium acidity, notes of nuts, chocolate and vanilla glimmer through.
Indonesia Sulawesi Toraja – Kalosi
We picked up complex and syrupy plum, wild spice flavours and highly recommend as a stand alone espresso. Sulawesi is one of the 4 larger Sunda Islands of Indo and is the world's eleveth largest island. It is situated between Borneo and the Maluka Islands. The coffee is sometimes known as Celebes which was the Dutch colonial name for the island. The Toraja are the ethnic group indigenous to a mountainous region of South Sulawesi. Sulawesi coffees are generally low-acid with great body and that deep, brooding cup profile similar to a wet hulled Sumatran. And nothing is different with this one.
Lucky Dip
The lucky dip coffee will be one of the following:-
Uganda Mt Elgon A - Low acidity with a full intense rich body. Mild tropical fruit notes with a sweet malt finish. Mt Elgon, a large mountain close to the Kenyan border, boasts rich soils, natural waters, rainforests and shade grown support. Natural farming means no chemical use, though organic certification is not possible at this stage in Uganda. This is a unique East African coffee offering an intense and heavy body.
Columbian Pitalito - Good body and acidity. Also stands up as a single with good dark choc and caramel notes.
Ethiopian Yiracheffe – Extraordinarily bright with citrus, spice and some floral characteristics and rich intensity finding Kumquat and Jasmine in the cup. Definitive and offering remarkable clarity and finish, this is a brilliant single origin espresso bean.
Panama Boquette De Eleta - Panama coffee is often lost in cooperative blends, but this single origin has been highly regarded over the years. It has a smooth but complex profile with caramel and cinnamon giving way to sweet berry and peach tones.
PNG Kimel A - PNG biggest Plantation. Light/medium body with good acidity. Balanced chocolate and malt notes with a honey sweet finish.
