    • it says $339.00 in WA? or what state should I pick

      • +1

        I'm in VIC

      • +1

It will show $188 if you chose the post option instead of WA.

  • Does Amazon have a price guarantee?
    I bought 2 last week ;-(

you could talk to customer service, say that you're going to return the product .. and instead of wasting postage .. see if they are able to do anything about it

anyways .. may not be granted, but you could always return it and repurchase!

    • No they don't. I've asked before

    • +1

Worked for me before. Just give it a go and if the rep says no, just request to be escalated to the manager. 😉

    • buy it again and return it with the old order

    • They do depending on the rep you get. If they say no at first, try another one . That worked for me. Otherwise they ask you to do a return and buy again.

Purchased one! Pricing has gone back up to $339 already

    • I think there is a limit to 5 per customer. I just got one for $197

      • It originally said shipped and sold by Amazon AU now it’s gone to full price through another seller

Edit: looks like some are back up for $197 but says 3 left

  • Apart from the camera, do we need to purchase a gateway or NVR ?

  • 2K only is terrible.

  • That was a good deal, pity both Amazon and Umart are OOS.

    • I clicked through to Amazon after reading your post and was pleased to see them still on sale for $197. I purchased 5. I've since refreshed the Amazon website and the price has gone up to $339.

  • Managed to get one at $197 from Amazon just now, so you may still be in luck

Ubiquiti and good value don't belong in the same sentence.

    • Why?

      • +2

I love their networking equipment but Unifi cameras are incredibly underspecced and overpriced compared to Hikvision/Dahua etc

        • +2

Oh right if you're looking at hardware specs, that is true.

However having used a whole bunch of systems including Hikvision on a DVR, Milestone XProtect, Avigilon, Blue Iris, and Frigate, I personally find having a good reliable app and notifications with reasonable image quality is more important than having the best image quality but poor notifications.

Of all the above, I found UniFi Protect's UI the best. It's quick to load, quick to display cameras, person detection notifications work reliably, and it easily integrates with Home Assistant.

I think the price of UniFi cameras is reasonable given the user experience they provide, but everyone has different requirements of course. At work I use a combination of UniFi Protect for detection and notification but Hikvision and Avigilon for the heavy lifting.

It's a shame Ubiquiti don't have ColorVu cameras in that price range!

          • @eug: They dropped support for their previous camera system hard and fast, with bugger all warning.

I don't trust them as a company (amongst other things) to maintain product lines.

I did the hikvision+blue iris route for a while, which worked out well.

yeah, but the dream machine SE, mesh wifi and camera system I set up at my parents place is pretty sick

  • This or the G5 Turret Ultra? Both coming at the same price point.

    • +1

what do you need it for?

    • +3

As someone with both, for the love of god get the turret. Ubiquit CANNOT seem to sort their shit out with IR reflections on their dome cameras and somehow it's STILL a problem even on these 5th gen units. I honestly don't know how they can keep selling them in good faith as the problem simply has not been fixed.

      • +2

Isn't that a problem with domes in general, not specifically Ubiquiti? I have reflection problems on Hikvision domes and switched to turrets. Looking at how domes work, I don't see how you can make a dome that doesn't have reflection problems. The only solution is to use external IR illuminators.

        • It is and likewise I've seen it on my Hikvisions, but not nearly to the same extent. The G5 Domes are basically unusable at night whereas it's more of a slight washout on the Hikvisions I've got.

      • I have a mix of G3 and G5 domes and attest to this issue. Was replacing a G3 so thought why not the new turret.

    • +2

If you can find stock of the turret …

      • Most retailers are putting stock availability this month on their websites.

        • I am hoping someone gets stock in around when 30/6 sales kick in
