Suggestion on search filter

hi, if possible add new feature where people can filter when doing search, for example just search on forum, or search on deals

  • Advanced Search does this.

  • Can i take this moment to say how ridiculous the search function is?

Advanced search options should be default! What's the point of a bunch of search results which are expired or not sorted by posting date?

People want to see current bargains when they search, not what they missed out on. (if they do, they can change it to 'expired deals' in the advanced options)

The search result are ordered by a combination of relevance and recency. For example,

      • Deals/Forum topics that are posted more recently would have more weight.
      • Deals/Forum topics with the keyword in the title would have more weight, less weight if the keywords appear in the content, and even less weight if they appear in the comments.

We obviously don't have the secret sauce of Google to provide the optimised result. However the default option is to find something relevant, and not necessarily the latest page where certain keywords appear.

As expired deal, there are lots of reason why you want to see that in your search result. For research? Finding an old deal that you saw before?

That's what the front page is for, i.e. current deals.

    • Not necessarily. Default search return with popular deals for that word, which is what many people would be after. Type 'Dell' and you get the $9 printer deal, or 'Australia Post' and you get the 20% good guys gift cards - which is how it should be. You can always sort it by date or active deals.

What I do recommend is to bring back the 'popular comments' (comments with more likes) function. In popular deals which have some 500 comments or more, it is extremely helpful to refer to the popular comments first, as more often than not, they usually have the most helpful and relevant information regarding the deal and helps save lot of time.
