Need Ideas - $100x20 worth of Ultimate Gift cards to convert for The Good Guys Transaction

Hello, I have 20 $100 Ultimate Him gift cards, totaling $2000, which I'd like to use to pay a $1500 The Good Guys transaction. However, I'm stuck because the gift cards come in $100 denominations, and the recipient doesn't accept split payments through an online payment link. I'd prefer not to add all the cards to my Google Wallet due to the inconvenience. I'm seeking suggestions for a solution. Have you encountered this issue and found a better way to handle it?

In summary:

20 Ultimate him cards x$100
Payment needed $1500

Need best way to do this.
Thanks

It really depends on a few factors that you have not specified, so I will need to cover multiple scenarios…

    In-store

If you are paying in-store, there should be no issues with the store accepting 15 Ultimate gift cards. The OzBargain redemption record is 54. However, I have just made the assumption you can easily get to a physical TGG store that has the item(s) you want in stock.

I will note that things may get tricky if you are trying to purchase an agency product (e.g. Miele dishwasher, Asko washing machine), as payment for those are usually made directly to the manufacturer, rather than TGG themselves. I am not sure whether the physical TGG store you go to will know or be willing to accept Ultimate gift cards as a payment method for agency products.

    Online

You seemed to have covered the online option thoroughly, but I will throw in an idea:

The regular TGG website accepts up to 2x TGG gift cards and 1x Ultimate gift card in one online transaction.

If you are extra keen, you could try to purchase 1x or 2x TGG gift cards at a physical TGG store using your 15 Ultimate gift cards (i.e. consolidate). However:

    • This is against the terms and conditions of Ultimate gift cards.

    • This is against TGG’s gift card policy.

    • If you were going to use these TGG gift cards to make a purchase from the regular TGG website to take advantage of a cashback deal via Cashrewards or ShopBack (as an example), this would make very little sense, because you would not earn cashback on any portion of a transaction paid for with TGG gift cards.

    Over the phone

The phone sales team may be able to help you redeem multiple Ultimate gift cards (or multiple TGG gift cards) to pay for an order over the phone and then either have it delivered to you, or make it available for pick up from a physical TGG store. If you were interested in this option, I would suggest you call the phone sales team and see what they are willing and able to offer you.

    TGG Commercial

Just in case the item(s) you were wanting were available on TGG Commercial and you wanted to take advantage of this, things get a little tricker.

TGG’s gift card policy states you cannot use gift cards to pay for items from TGG Commercial. There used to be a workaround where you contact TGG Commercial to have a sales order generated and sent to a physical TGG store for payment, but it looks like TGG Commercial does not do this anymore. However, you could still ask someone at a physical TGG store to see whether they would be happy to price match TGG Commercial.

I cannot make a judgement call on what the “best way” is for you, because I do not know what you are purchasing nor whether you can easily get to a physical TGG store. Only you can make that judgement call.

Looks like you dont have many other options.

If they have physical Ultimate Him gift cards, they should be okay to swipe the physical gift cards on the EFTPOS terminal at TGG (unless they have damaged their physical gift cards).

If they have digital Ultimate Him gift cards, you are right, they do not have many other options. I would also not add 15 Ultimate gift cards to the same Google Wallet in a short period of time, as it runs the risk of Google disabling the wallet.

Hmm interesting part about Google disabling the wallet.

OP needs to clarify what cards and what type of transaction.

If it is for TGG Commercial, no chance.

Even if you add it to your Google wallet, it will still be 15 separate cards. (I wouldn't do this as someone got their google account/wallet suspended for adding too many)

To my understanding and the above comment, online can only accept so many cards online.

The best place is to get it instore.

I've used 16 cards instore with no problems.

I just recently asked good guys about this. They said if you email them all the codes then call them they can put it through over the phone.

  • in store is the way
