Those turbo spray nozzles are intense. I usually swap them out with a standard nozzle when I need more precision.

    • Are the nozzles universal? I can just take one from any other can?

That's what I did, just took it off a silver Dulux spray can.

Hopefully these are good for primming 3d prints

I used this same primer on my PLA prints. Here's one I primed before varnishing.

I haven't decided whether I will prime and paint this print (to hid the imperfections), or leave it as is: https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/82921/113236/img202406…

      • Nice,

How many parts is that in total?

What kind of sanding and painting did you do afterwards?

I just finished printing out squirtle and bulbasaur on the SE. Getting them ready to prime, sand and paint

        • The Velociraptor skull was 6 parts (40cm long in total). No sanding or prep, just melted the parts together and primed then varnished. 1st using a brush, then an air compressor sprayer with thinned varnish.

@Lizard Spock: Cool, not fussed with layer lines etc at tbat size?

I've been looking at these portable airbrush kits lately, looks fun

@impoze: I used 0.3 layer height, the bigger you go, the less fine the layer heights need to be. I often use a 0.6mm nozzle as well so I can get a thicker wall with less passes.

I used one of those gravity feed sprayers on my existing compressor.

      • That's very nice, with prime spray, I can cut cleaning airbrush time and jump straight to paint.

Just worry a bit, some spray can nozzle could spit large droplets.
        Not with these cans

They look SICK! What a great idea. Now I want Dino bones in my house toooo.

        That is awesome 👏 💯

  • are primers actually necessary? i find paints usually stick to most surfaces anyway without any primer as long as its cleaned.

    • +1

Are you referring to 3d prints?

Not necessary but I've picked up 'filler primer' to fill in a few gaps where support was and blend out top round layers.

      • for anything really

    • It depends, for my resin miniatures/models, I need to prime it since it affect colour layer

    • -2

Paints will stick to anything if you use thick layers, but if you'll lose details that way. I guess it depends on what you're painting

  • thanks for the deal
