these are really heavy. i did end up buying a checked plus in one of the limited colours because i thought it was very pretty - not the best ozbargainer mindset, i know - but if you're more concerned with function over form and you're happy to spend a bit i would definitely get a samsonite hifi or upscape over a july. the extra weight was a hindrance. with 23kg of allowance, it felt like i had a ton of room left in my suitcase but i couldn't maximise the space on my return flight after buying lots of stuff.
the wheels are really good though. they fared way better than my partner's american tourister curios wandering the streets of japan (so hardly a difficult test).
july's warranty is more forgiving than other brands from my understanding, though you would hope so at this price..!
