Nelson Bay - Rivers - False Advertising

Just a quick one.
Wento to Rivers in Nelson Bay, 2 pairs of shoes for me and a t-shirt for my son, with a price tag of 9.95 (The shirt).
When the Girl scanned the t-Shirt. It came up 12.95.
Since Nelson Bay semms to be full of scammers and con-artits (had other experineces *) we both told the girl that the price was wrong.
Her answer: "Oh I had that before, the tags obn the shirt are wrong, the price in the system is right"
Since I didnt want to engage in long discussion (was on holiday after-all) I left shirt and shoes on counter, and we walked off. Byyyeeeeeeee !

    Other Scam artists:
One stand where you put the ball in the clown mouth. With no correct sum, the person gave me a cheap Pon-Pon. I asked him if he would have a consolation price for a boy. He didnt even bother answer me. Yes the pon pon staid at the clown's

Other one (Nelson Bay marina)
had to buy thongs for my son as he forgot his shoes. Found a cheapy pair in one of the shops at the marina: $2.99
Was there with two kids, so a bit stressed. Paid with $50. When I was about to buy some ice creams ( 2mins later) I relaized she'd given me only 27$ back. Went back, but she would not admit it. It is with great satisfaction that I saw this weekend that the business is for sale.

  • While the Rivers girl maybe should have given you the shirt at the $9.95, I doubt that Rivers staff were trying to scam you. The amount paid would be in the records. They wouldn't benefit personally.

  • Report to dept fair trading

  • I've had something like that happen to me in Brisbane's Jindalee Rivers a while back. They scanned the shirt and it was different pricing, I got the manager and they fixed it up for me.

The question is why were you shopping at rivers in the first place?.

  • I would not say Nelson Bay is full of scammers and con-artist, name me a town that isn't,look at your own town first better still don't come.

  • Your "pon-pon" story makes no sense.

    • His son played the laughing clowns fair game. The prize that was given to him was a pon-pon. He requested a consolation prize that was more fitting to a boy. They refused. He left the pon pon there as he felt ripped off.

  • When I went to Port Stevens, I had pre-paid for a "Two-Storey Luxury Town-House". When I got to town, I collected the key from the appointed shop, went to the property only to discover that the unit was originally furnished by the Salvation Army Op-Shop, but that prior occupants had broken half of the furniture. The hot water in the kitchen did not work, and THERE WAS NO AIR-CONDITIONING (and it was bloody hot!). I took the keys back, demanded my money back - which never happened, and then I had to pay all over again at a local motel. By the time we checked-in there, NO restaurants would take us - at only 8:30pm. Instead of staying 5 days in Nelson Bay, we left after two, and went to Port Macquarie which was much nicer!
