8/6/2024 11:10am Update: We have run out of keys, we will give more keys out when we get more from Steam! We will @ everyone when we do, we're expecting to have more on Saturday!

Claim Werewolf Party for FREE in the first 24h of release!

Instructions

  1. Go to Deal
  2. Accept invitation to join Absam Studio Discord
  3. In Discord, go to # ⁠💼-roles to get your Roles to access the rest of the server
  4. It makes you wait 10 minutes before allowing you to post a message
  5. Go to # 24h-claim-your-key and post /getkey
  6. It will respond with a Steam key

To celebrate the release of our very first game, "Werewolf Party," my wife and I at AbsamStudios are thrilled to offer it for free during the first 24 hours of launch!

The game will be available for free from 9:00 AM PDT on June 7th to 9:00 AM PDT on June 8th. Once you claim it within this period, it's yours to keep forever.

            Might be worth adding something along the line "Some hoops required" in the title, e.g. via discord

      You need to click on one of the options in roles. I clicked on Artist option and got an auto reply it was done. Was immediate too

      Then 3 mins later I was able to type the message.

      This step needs to be made clear that you need to click one of the options available to you e.g. Artist. That step confused me

        Actually you just need to click the green tick to verify. The first post in the roles channel. That's all I did.

          I did the green tick verify as well but I still was unable to post a message 20 mins after. Then when a role was assigned to me by choosing Artist, only then after 3 minutes I was able to finally post.

          Anyway, if anyone is having issues like I was, hopefully it might be useful. Otherwise you are likely right.

    Wouldn't it make more sense to make it free on steam for 24h and then make it $15 like Content Warning did

      4 minutes after that they posted saying that they are expecting to have more on Sunday.

      Free directly through Steam would definitely make it easier to claim, but seems they ran into some difficulties trying to set that up.

      Hey, we had trouble making it free from the steam side. We are giving keys through discord.

            That would depend entirely on how many keys they have already generated.

            The key tool in Steamworks allows developers to generate up to a running total of 5,000 keys.

            Any additional keys after hitting the limit require manual review and would ultimately be rejected in this case when Valve realises that the developer has breached the giveaway terms. (giveaways of over 100 keys require developers to reach out to Valve to organise a time for the game to also be offered for free on Steam)

          • Them having difficulties trying to make it free directly on Steam?

            The pricing tool in Steamworks will reject any price which after discounts falls below US$0.49 (or local equivalent)

            This isn't the first time a developer has promised their game would be free on Steam, only to find that the pricing tool won't actually allow them to do that. Many of these self-published devs aren't all that interested in reading T&Cs or Steamworks documentation. They just want to work on their game.

            The only way to create a free promotion is by opening a support ticket. Valve will then create a separate No Cost "Limited Free Promotional Package". (If a game has trading cards, these packages won't drop them.)

          If the dev has already hit their 5,000 key limit then I suspect we will end up seeing this free directly on Steam (as originally promised) once they hear back from Valve.

      This didn't ask for any personal info whatsoever.

      If you weren't already logged into Discord, it prob wanted you to authenticate. That's certainly not a negative.

      But I agree it was quite a process. I guess the developers want to get a community supporting thier game - a fair price for making it free imo.

          You must be new at this. Steam asks for a DOB for every game that might have mature content. I've never used the same date twice. I don't think anybody ever said it had to be yours? ;)

          A phone number is a simple MFA. It might be the only one discord uses. Better than nothing.

          You don't have to like it and you don't have to use it. Just keep your negs and move on.

      Do you have a discord account? It might require phone number for MFA. (That's a good thing, FYI. Better to allow your choice of MFA, but better than nothing.)
      If you already have an account, it doesn't ask for phone number or any other personal info. You're just logging in to your account.

        I have had a discord account for a while and have been using it without a number. I dont want discord to know my number so if any server requires a number (like this one) I won’t join them

      I think mod made a mistake changing end time. I believe it was from 9am UTC until EOD, which would have been 5pm today.
