Extremely annoyed at catch at the moment and hoping for some guidance on what I can do next.
Quick summary of events up to this moment:
Ordered item off Catch (via a marketplace seller) item was stated as brand new and box in perfect condition.
Item arrived box had been opened and damaged, sent the seller photos and advised it could not have happened during postage due to bubble wrap etc and a box does not “open” during postage.
Seller agreed and said I can send the item back for a refund
Item returned paid $20 for shipping with tracking, returned the item to the address he provided, it was a house address and not where the item was delivered from.
5 days later seller has ghosted me, he now has my money and the item. Contacted catch who said they cannot assist as it’s a market place seller.
I would normally credit card chargeback but I paid via afterpay as I had a promo.
My question is can catch legally do this and just say it’s not our problem even though the seller is listed via their marketplace? And if they refuse to assist, what are my next steps, consumer law or a regulatory body maybe?
Thanks
