Samsung 655L Side by Side Refrigerator (SRS693NLS) $1,329.30 ($1179.30 with $150 Trade-up/Recycle) Delivered @ Samsung EPP & EDU

Seems like a very low price for a Samsung side-by-side fridge with 20 year warranty on the digital inverter compressor. Price includes delivery, and instead of having to pay someone to remove your old one (e.g. 'premium delivery'), they give you $150 for it (if your old fridge is eligible and the offer is available in your area). I was able to book delivery for 6 days from now. Lowest elsewhere seems to be $1899 at the moment.

I used the Government EPP Portal. I assume it is available through other Samsung portals, but am not able to check.

I know some people had bad experiences with Samsung fridges, but ours has been fine for years (bought this one for a relative). This model has plenty of positive reviews online. For the price and given the warranty, I reckon it is very good. I tried using a loyalty voucher, but no-go. It just messed up the total price and I had to press "edit cart" for it to sort itself out.

The problem with the “20 year warranty” is that it’s only on the compressor. Unfortunately with a Samsung fridge, it’s everything else that breaks. Ask me how I know ;)

    • You can't go wrong with Westinghouse - my parents one is still going after 20+ years.

      • +4

20 years ago it was made by a completely different company. Today’s Westinghouse is like the old Westinghouse in name only.

Have one of the new ones, working well so far, Sister in law bought exact same one about the same time and it died after 6 years.

        • what's a good brand nowadays? everything seems geared to breakdown just after warranty period

Wouldn't buy another Samsung fridge, mine has water leaks into to fridge through the light area, it's a common problem with the particular top mount model i bought apparently.

    • The Samsung we currently use is side-by-side and we haven't had any issues luckily.

    • I've heard of people having to sign NDAs in order to get th fridge fixed. Seems like a huge issue that Samsung are trying to cover up.

      • Where did you hear this? Was interested so tried to search for this.

        • Can't disclose. They signed a NDA :P

        • Just search for Samsung fridge ice maker and look at the 1000s of posts about them leaking

          • @SubNoize: Very different model to this deal though. And other brands have such issues too.

I also have a Samsung fridge that has broken too many times to count :) Any issues should be covered under warranty but it's painful having a fridge breakdown and your food going to waste.

Do yourself a favour check Samsung's comment on productreview.com.au before buying anything from Samsung store.

I bought from them. They didn't deliver and wasted me much time. Worst company to deal with.

Samsung education store has it listed for the same price as well

If you want a hassle free experience with fridges, buy one without auto water and ice dispenser. If you opt for plumbing you are in for pain.

Have had 2 Samsung fridges without the above, works perfectly!

    • Agree, I would never buy a plumbed one. Heard many bad stories, regardless of brand.

  • Black version the other month was going for around $900 after trade in and 5% off on the EPP store.

  • Please don't buy this fridge, it didn't even last for 5 years. I ended up spending more than $500 on repairs.

Before even coming into this deal I'd heard nothing but horror stories about Samsung fridges. Avoid

  • Honestly in this day an age, anything that says "lifetime" or long time warranties are pretty much useless because it's difficult for you as the consumer to prove it wasn't from excessive wear and tear, it's just a marketing gimmick.

  • This one or similar LG?
