How Can I Contact Steam, Problem with My Account

Hi All,

I think someone has stolen my steam account and there appears to be no way I can contact them about it.

Yesterday I downloaded and started playing “Tell me why” that was listed on OzB

Today I tried to login and I keep getting invalid account errors.

Every option I pick basically says the same, I have tried searching for my acct with my mobile number, my email address and every time I keep getting no account found error.

If I search for the acct using my acct name I get an “email will be sent to r********.a***********.c** Message”

That does not fit my acct email address, I definitely have the correct spelling for my acct name but the email address pattern does not fit my email address.

I know that all of the account details I have tried are correct for my account and it looks like someone has hijacked my account and changed all of the details somehow.

Is there anyway I can contact steam? All contact options seem to want me to enter account details. I have literally 100s of games mostly OzB freebies or cheapies and have had this account for over 20 years.

Regards,

Bigmik

    Hi All,

I have found a link that allowed me to change the email address back to mine and my mobile number as well, it was in an obscure link, that I can’t locate again now to post here.

At the moment I now have my library of games back in my control with a new password, I will load up the app and have the 2 stage security set up on the app.

I don’t know if some cock up on Steam servers occurred, or someone tried to hijack me or something else occurred but I now have my entire library under my control again.

Thank you all for listening to an old man stressing over his games collection.

    Regards,

    Bigmik

    • Why on earth did you not have 2FA set up?

2FA everything unless it's just a spam website you don't care about.

    Hi JK82,

No excuse except that I am in my 60s, and mostly have free or cheap games on my account.

I never envisioned that someone would want to hijack my games directory.

Apart from a game my daughter bought for me (back for blood I think it was) they are all around $10 or less.

I have set up the app activator now and it is actually easier than typing in my user name and password.

What I do dislike is that it seems to be impossible to contact Steam when things like this occur.

    Anyway, lesson learned

    • Glad you got it sorted. Strong passwords and 2FA for everything is the golden rule!

      • Yes, I agree,

In total they attacked Steam, my Bigpond email (Telstra blocked acct which I am very pleased about), ea.com and LinkedIn

I have every thing sorted except LinkedIn which I don’t want to use anyway, they have hacked in so that emails go to me but sms goes to a ph in USA, I created a new acct to contact linked in and reported my old acct as stolen and got all of my friends to report it as someone impersonating me.

It’s a lesson that I have learned. Being in my late 60s it is very difficult to remember all these damn passwords and I have seen 2FA (sms to mobile) as a pain but now I see that they are a necessary evil.

        Regards,

        Mick
