Do You Make Your Own Bubble Tea?

My kids (and lets face it - me) love bubble tea but that stuff is expensive to buy out. I looked and theres lots of recipes to make online but I thought I would source the ozbargain bubble tea fans to see if there are any recommendations! Thanks!

    Yes

You can make bubble tea at home for like 70c per serve.

You can buy 1kg powder and 3kg pearls from places like happycup warehouse, sunwide and other wholesale places online.

Personally I buy from these guys, I do not buy the trash from supermarkets like Woolies or Costco.

Its kind of a pita to make the pearls for a single serve. Otherwise I would obviously.

  • I normally use 6-7 of assam tea bag, make the tea first for about 400ml. Then simply mix with half 500ml milk. You can adjust the taste base on your preference.

Pearls you can buy from most of the asian groceries, it can be quite hard to find but just ask the staff where they are.

I would love to - but frankly I cannot justify the added sugar - especially not often. Hence the price of expensive boba is a deterrent to me ruinign the health

Sure, I can add less sugar, but then I may as well as be drinking cold tea diluted with milk

  • Good bubble tea are expensive, which is kind of a good thing since they are a sugar bomb. Just have it once in a while.

  • I never knew Tapioca was male.

  • Just buy the good stuff from asian stores like Tong Li, it's only $5.5/1.5L, however it doesn't come with pearls. You'll have to make your own.

Why would you want to screw the rest of your kid's lives by getting them hooked on sugar now?
