Blocked from Buying Items on Amazon

I am pretty sure this is because I have ordered these items in the past using the Subscribe and Save discount and then cancelled the subscription before the next batch is sent out.
Things like nappies, toilet paper, paper rolls etc.

When I am logged in, I only see "No featured offers available" and I cannot purchase the item.
When I log out or use another browser, I see the Amazon One-time purchase price and the Subscribe & Save price options, as you would expect.

Are Amazon now banning users from buying items because they have cancelled S&S subscriptions for that particular item?

Update: I changed the Deliver to address to a different one in a different state and it reactivated all the buying options (we share one Prime account between 5 families). Interestingly I changed it from another address to my address and it is my address that has been S&S and cancelling. Ah well, works now. I might just do the One-time from now on and cop the higher price. lol.

  • I cancel subscriptions all the time but also keep many others.

Do you always cancel them all?

Yes, all of them. My life is not that predicable.

Just change it to 6 months, then when you get the reminder, move it again if not needed yet.

    • I've never let a subscription renew. A couple of times they did, but I cancelled before they were shipped. And I always choose the S&S when it's an option. Their algorithm probably tells them I'm pretty baked into Amazon by now though. People "google it" when they want to know something, I "Amazon it" whenever I want to buy anything.

This has indeed happened to others before. You abused the S&S system and they chose not to entertain you further.

    • really?

      guess I'll be next

      • Yea, it's pretty random though. Either that, or there's a specific certain criteria their system flags accounts. Seems OP found a workaround below.

        • Did you ever choose the "I wanted the initial discount" option as a reason?

Try changing your address to a family/friends house to allow you to add it to cart, when checking out change your address back to your home address.

Should go through fine. It’s a weird bug that they have, wouldn’t put it into you being blocked from buying them.

    • Cheers, just figured this out!

      • Just saw your edit after I replied! Glad you figured it out :-)

we share one Prime account between 5 families

This is far more likely to be the reason than cancelling S&S …

Been doing it for years. Have over 20 addresses and a dozen credit cards linked to the account. Order history is wild.

Doesn't matter, as financial situations hit companies, they all look for ways to make more $$, that includes targeting account sharing ;)

Just because I shared a NetFlix account for a decade, doesn't mean it is going to work for the next decade …

        • We'll keep yoloing until the party is over

      • true oz bargainer :D what is the individual $ share from you ?

The account owner pays. We've all offered to chip in or take turns paying but he is chill and says he's going to have it anyway and doesn't care who else uses it.

FYI, If you order S&S and have it delivered to an amazon locker, it won't create a subscription (it will show up as error). Essentially one-time order with the discount

    • Hmm, i do get an error but they still deliver it anyway to mine. But i've always had to cancel it still
