Looking for a Recommendation for Budget Wireless Gaming Headset

I am seeking your recommendations for a budget wireless gaming headset. I have been looking, usually they are above $150.
Is it possible to get a decent one between $50-$75 range? There are Aliexpress coupons at the moment, I am open for relatively unknown brands from Aliexpress.
This is for 10 years old kid, playing Fortnite.
I appreciate your opinions

  • Maybe have a look on head-fi or somewhere with some info on chi-fi.

  • Budget wireless sucks, just go wired

    • No way, I really like my cheap wireless headset. Would be hard to go back! I love being able to walk into the kitchen for a cup of tea while gaming or playing DND with friends

  • +1

Razer Barracuda X. I was able to price match at JB Hi-Fi for $99. It’s hard to get a decent wireless much cheaper. If you’re on a budget I’d go for wired.

    • Came here to recommend the same! I really like mine. Mic is great, the sound quality is actually really good. I also have the Sony XM5, and Audio Technica ATHM50s, even after using those, these sound good. Wireless range is really good too.

Keep in mind there are two versions:

Version 1 (The version I have) does not have bluetooth, it is USB wireless only, comes with a dongle. You can find this one cheaper

Version 2 also has bluetooth, is pricier

Have had mine for 3 or 4 years now I think

      • I'm currently looking at these myself. Can you just confirm please - is there a button/option to control the ratio of in-game vs chat sound?

I am struggling to figure this out via the interwebs, Razor's own website doesn't even specify (as far as I've found anyway). I think I can spot a wheel in some of the pics, but would prefer to know for sure :)

        • The wheel just changes volume overall. I am not aware of any headphones which have what you describe, is that a thing?

          • @Boioioioi: Yeh, my cheap base model Playstation brand ones that are several years old have it haha. These have finally started to die which is why I'm looking for a replacement, and that feature is really good!

            • @bdo207: i mean for most ppl this is in game settings

              • @Hash: Yeh, I can do it in-game, however it was much quicker and easier having a single control on the headset itself.

    • Pink @ Wireless1 but was able to match against Black.

    • Thank you, I was thinking it might be challenging to get a decent one around $75 for wireless.
He does not mind wired, but it just me that like clean desk.
      Thank you for recommendation

  • My kids have gone through a number of gaming headsets (toooo many). Finally found something decent the Edifier G2 BT (https://www.amazon.com.au/Edifier-G2BT-Headphones-Cancelling…) currently on special at Amazon only $58 delivered (prime).. Great price - I paid closer to $100 each about a year ago.

Both kids headsets are still going like new - excellent performance and excellent battery life (USB-C rechargeable)..

They're not Bose or AKG, but the kids love 'em and they have not broken or failed.

    • How is the latency on these? I've never had BT headphones that were good enough for gaming because the delay is noticeable

      • is the delay very bad? I thought would be convenience to have a wireless

        • +1

My kids say there is no delay - I've never used them myself so I can't say. But they're like most kids and will complain if there's the slightest issue :)

        • Usually wireless headphones that use a USB dongle are fine, but bluetooth in general has a large delay. Fine for music - not so much for games. But perhaps these newer technologies have resolved that?
