Tyres for RAV4 Hybrid

I need new tyres for my RAV4 Hybrid, size 225/60 R18. Can anybody recommend tyres that have good wear and low noise? Not fussed with "performance/grip" but don't want the cheapest "budget" tyres either.

The Bridgestones that it came with (Alenza H/L33) wasn't too bad but not great either, I got 60k on them with conservative and mostly open road driving. They are however about $1500 for the set of 4 which is a bit too expensive for me.

I can currently get the Pirelli Scorpion Verde for about $820 a set - anybody had these?

    Michelin Primacy 4 ‘SUV’.Just a great tyre.

    • I've heard/read from various sources they are good. Sadly no deals where I am so very expensive - about $1600 for a set

BJ currently has them @ $335 ea.(in that size)Tyres do fluctuate in price due to currency fluctuations.

      • $315 each at my local tyre place Tempe Tyres. Get your Bob Jane to price match

        Continental TechContact $283 at Tyresales.

        • More often than not,BJ advertised prices will be actually higher than what you can get them for.I have found that on most occasions.(note: I am not purchasing them.)

        • Unfortunately not a lot of choice were I live, and shipping + installation from Tempe/Tyresales kills savings.

          • @LoungeLizard: You may have to travel.

@LoungeLizard: Maybe you should state a postcode when asking so people don't waste their time trying to assist.

BTW: Pirelli - great when new but once they are down by 40% very disappointing, especially for noise.

            • @brad1-8tsi: Had Pirelli Zero’s on a GT Mustang, just rubbish.Terrible wearing things.Went & threw a set of Michelin Pilot sport 4s ‘S’ on it.

Pretty good price for the Pirellis which are up there for quality. I'd be going that way. source: work at a tyre retailer

    • Cheers. How does the wear compare to others?

Pretty similar to the Bridgestone, if you got 60k from them and continue to do similar driving I'd anticipate about the same from the Pirelli

    • @Aldonis do you know how much mileage ecopias h/l 001 (235/60R18) typically get?

      • It can vary quite a lot depending on the driving you do - it's pretty hard to say you'll get X amount of K's out of a tyre without knowing what you've got previously on other brands

I love how with 1 comment you're suddenly the ozbargain expert in car tyre wear. Lol.

      • Probably knows more about tyres than the average person given he works at a tyre retailer…

        • Not denying that but there are so many variables that alter tyre life.

  • Does it have roof racks?

OP better factor in the higher load rating for roof racks and associated kayak

    • No roof racks
