Hey all,
I am new to this so I've got some questions. I am currently interested in buying a 16GB Nexus 7 from them and price match it using Kogan ($248 to their $257), but I am not sure if they'd accept it and etc. I've read the terms and it seems that it should be fine, but thought it'd be better to check with the community with experience before going ahead. And, do I have to bring anything for the price match? (Screenshots of the order and etc?, how's all this handled?). Do I just walk in, point at the item, demand a price match citing the cheaper price from Kogan through my phone? Hope to get some pointers on what to bring and how one go about doing this. Thanks guys, am new to this.
I went to do the same thing, some months ago, but was denied on the grounds of a different warranty (since Kogan is non-Australian stock, with a Kogan warranty). However, it is very much dependent on the attendant / store on how strict they are. It sounds silly, but try to go for the least vigilant attendant ;-)
For the actual pricematch, I would take a printout of the final order on Kogan, making sure it includes shipping, GST and what-have-you. Hasn't happened to me personally, but I've heard that sometimes OW won't accept proof in digital form, because it can easily be manipulated, or some such nonsense.
I wouldn't demand for the price match, exactly; try to be nice to the attendant (more than usual), so they're more inclined to sympathise and give the pricematch. In case they don't accept the Kogan pricematch, take in some others as backup (I didn't do this, and I ended up buying it at OW price -.-)
I'm not sure how larger stores would handle it, but I sought out a wandering attendant (in the tech section) and asked them from there. I wouldn't go up to the main counter, unless you can avoid it. IMO a manager / supervisor would be more likely to handle it, in that case, and they would probably be more strict.
Good luck :-)
