Copy Pasta description from HotUKDeals

At the time of post; Argentinian Tidal is the cheapest, but it requires a local bank card to purchase. Next best thing is Nigeria.

Tidal Family Hifi (6 Users) - USD$3.65/month (~AUD$5.80)
Tidal Individual - First 2 months for USD$0.50 (~AUD$0.75) then USD$2.65/month (~AUD$4)
Tidal Student - USD$1.17/month (~AUD$1.76) I'm not certain if this will work with an Australian student account.

Note: This works for new accounts only. Make a new account with a different email.

OP and I used an Android to successfully create an account but I'm sure it will work iOS and PC as well.
If you have an Android phone you can use VPN Nigeria app and just turn it on when in the app and skip step 1 and 2. Replace 'TunnelBear' in the steps with VPN Nigeria if you choose this method.

  1. Install Tunnelbear VPN (free account).
  2. Using world map interface within Tunnelbear select Nigeria. A VPN to Nigeria will be started.
  3. Open a browser (Chrome/Firefox etc.)
  4. Type tidal.com into browser
  5. If connected successfully you would be at the Nigerian Tidal home page with Nigerian prices in USD that is shown at the top of this post.
  6. Select the account type you want (I opened a HiFi Plus Family subscription).
  7. Create a new account (this cannot be the same as any Tidal subscription you may have had previously)
  8. Choose password.
  9. When screen changes to add payment method (debit or credit card, OP used Revolut virtual Mastercard; I used a Westpac debit card)
  10. Disable Tunnelbear and enter card details and verify card payment.
  11. An email address verification will be sent to your chosen email address.
  12. Go to your email client, locate the Tidal account verification email and press the link. You will be directed back to your browser and your Tidal account will now be open with a valid subscription.
  13. Log back in to Tidal check all is good.
  14. Open Tidal app, log out and log back using your fresh username and password
  15. Start using Tidal without the VPN.

For Tidal Family accounts

  • When handing out family invites make sure you and your family members use a VPN when making invite and accepting invite or Tidal will fail to allow the family member due to being in the wrong country. Once invite sent and accepted, VPN can be closed down.
Extra Notes from OP

If you want your existing Tidal playlists, artists, albums and tracks moved from your exiting (old) account, go to Support Chat on Tidal website (VPN not required) and send in a request for them to copy these from old username to new username. Within 24 house they will moved everything for one.

Does Tidal sound better compared to Spotify when using Airpod Pro's 2nd Gen? I really only listen to music during the morning/evening commute, I guess I'm a casual lol

    • Does airpod pro support lossless audio? You can always give it a free trial and see if you like it.

    • +1

It is hard for me to tell the difference with B&W PI7 S2, I would expect difference for Airpod to be even less.

However, at this price point, you can't lose.

      • Yep, I would say this is even cheaper than a Turkish Apple Music Individual sub. May be worth a shot.

    • +1

No. The connection from iphone to the Airpods uses compression (AAC) so there's no advantage to streaming from a lossless source.

On top of that, it's debatable how much audible difference there is between lossless and high-quality compression at 320kbps anyway. I'm pretty confident in saying very few people would be able to reliably tell the difference and then only on studio-quality headphones or monitors.

So if you have a Spotify paid account and you set it to highest quality you are good.

  • Holy shit, I have been waiting for a deal like this.

I thought they check where the card comes from, that's when they cancelled my last vpn one.

    • Argentina stopped the use of foreign issued cards because their currency had tanked

  • I am using nigeria VPN, can not sign up, it says tidal is not available at your country.

    • You're not connected to Nigeria. Test your IP address.

      • yes, I am at lagos according to whatismyipaddress.com.
        tunnelbear is roaring at africa.

        • Try in incognito mode.

          • @StealthAU: pureVPN works for me, however only individual $2.56 and family plan $3.85 , no the student one.

            • @Watanabe1995: There's a student option once you made your trial account under plans in account area.

  • Worked, legend thanks. I prefer this over Spotify.

  • Anyone able to let me know if you still need the DJ add-on for Rekordbox functionality? If so, how much does this cost?

    Unable to check myself atm.

    • +1

      Individual - USD $4.67
      Family - USD $7

      • Thank you!

  • HMA VPN user here, recently signed up, I always get connected to UK. Is anyone else facing the same issue?

    • +1

      Try Tunnelbear free.
If you have an android you can use Nigeria VPN.

      • I am now using tunnel bear, Nigerian website doesn't display any prices for me. What's happening?

        • Probably cause the IP is not registered as Nigeria, check the IP. Might need to turn the VPN on and off again. Another user used pureVPN and it worked, you can use that if you're still experiencing problems.

          • @StealthAU: Paying for a VPN also did not solve my problems

            • @sqheaven: If you have an android, you can use Nigeria VPN and it will work as I used that.

  • Any other countries cheap… my VPN does not have Nigeria. Tried South Africa and is was just under $9 AUD for the family. Would prob get currency conversion fees as well.. still way cheaper than spotify so might give it a go.

    • It is supposed to be Columbia the next cheapest accoridng to reddit but i guess they increased the price.

Thailand is pretty much the same as South Africa in price.

  • Up card is playing up, anyone has luck with CommBank? They'd charge me conversion :s Or Up?

Something went wrong, please try again. lf the error persists, please contact customer support.

Ok so if you disconnect the VPN at the checkout and press subscribe, it works like a charm. Thanks

Don't forget to subscribe to the famous artist from Nigeria if you're into percussionists

    Babatunde Olatunji

  • Will my Wakanda VPN work for this?

    • +2

Wakanda VPN is horrible. PureVPN 3day trial worked for me and I signed up for 2month trial.

  • Signed up OK but cant select 24bit/192khz music quality. Is this a limitation of going through Nigeria?

Edit: I could in the app, not in a browser.

    • Not all tracks have 192khz. As long as you have put the audio quality to Max and the track can play Max; it'll either be MQA(will be gone by the end of next month) or 24 bit 44.1/88/96/196khz depending on what the music label provide them.

  • Thanks OP. Worked with VPN Unlimited, incognito mode, NAB card.

  • Worked like a charm with NordVPN and Commbank Card. Remember to disconnect the VPN at the last checkout step (when putting payment info in), hit one more time if it shows the error and it should work.

  • Thanks OP, I identify as Nigerian now.

  • Thanks OP. Followed the instructions using my current VPN provider and worked like a charm. Was going to blow off Spotify and give Tidal a try in the Tesla but did similar cheap Spotify country change and now have a Family Tidal and a Spotify Duo for less than I was paying for an Individual Spotify. Will give both a go for a while and see which one I like better.

    • i know you've just joined but whats your experience so far with family tidal?

      • I'm not using it much. Mainly got it to try as an alternative to Spotify in the Tesla, but the Tesla app is buggy as hell. The limited amount of use I've had on the Android app has been fine, and Mrs has been using it more than she uses Spotify.

      • I've just joined Tidal. The suggested songs are a little off taste for me but I assume it is because spotify is so much more rich with my data. My account has 7 years worth of "likes" and "skips" for them to work with.

The interface is fine - take a little getting used to.
During the migration of playlists, i lost a good number of independent artists. When I looked up the artist, they were often youtube artists. Biggers youtubers were still on there tho, just smaller ones. Also lost a number of covers too.

    • which country you end up picking for spotify?
