I'm just looking for a new fridge as our current one is frosting a lot. I found out that there are 2 fridges that stand out from the rest in terms of efficiency (Haier HRF420BEC - 8 stars, Hisense HRBM418D - 7 stars). Wondering if anyone knows of any significant improvements in this area. I'm a nerd and just looked into the specs of the two fridges, I couldn't really tell if there is any major new tech, all I can see is they're both using R600a/48g, while their less efficient ones use R600a/55g. But I don't have enough knowledge in refrigerant to tell the differences, and hope to have someone shedding some light here.
Update: I've got a HRF420BEC delivered yesterday, it's been good so far.
Better heat exchange, compressor efficiency, and insulation probably makes new fridges much more efficient than an average one from 10 years ago. it should tell you on the fridge how much energy it uses.
