I have just ordered the Lenovo Legion Y700 (2023) model from AliExpress. It says it will come with the China ROM. I have read some posts where people talk about flashing this with the "Global" ROM. I am wondering what the pros and cons are of this? From what I gather, on the China ROM it is still possible to install the Google Play store, you can set the language to English, you can delete most of the Chinese apps, and you will get more regular updates. Based on that, what are the reasons for flashing the device with the "Global" ROM? Thanks all.
ROM Question for Lenovo Legion Y700 (2023) Owners

If you will be using "English" then you can just stay with the stock ROM which is supporting English and Chinese.
Some people who are updating to Global Rom could be that they want to use other languages like Korean or Japanese.
With stock rom, you can also configure it to display above mentioned languages but it is only partial. There's lots of out-of-date information out there now because Lenovo only recently released the Y700 in international markets with an official global ROM.
Before this, "global rom" referred to an unofficial ROM that was hacked together to include the Play Store and remove the Chinese apps. The bootloader would also have been unlocked so Netflix and similar apps would not work. You will also not receive any OS updates.
The official global ROM now makes it like any other normal tablet you can buy with full support for Netflix with Widevine L1 and official Play Store support, and software updates.
Switching to the official global ROM is very easy with Lenovo's Rescue and Smart Assistant software - as long as your Chinese firmware isn't newer than the latest global ROM. You can google-translate this page for a guide.
So don't update your tablet when you get it; check the version and if it's older than 15.0.761, you should be OK to switch ROMs.
Is it an Australian model or is it a Foreign Legion?
