Minimum Brightness Specification

Is there any easy way to check what sort of brightness a laptop display has at 0%/1% seems to be something that is knowable, but not sought after and I’ve never heard it mentioned in a review, but have really appreciated dark phone screens for feeding my insomnia. Thanks

Edit: looking for real darkness since it’s actually a feature and preserves battery life etc.

Sorry, I can't shed any light on this matter.

It’s annoying how we’re always left in the dark with this sort of info.

    This turned dark really quickly.

  • You could slap a privacy screen over the laptop. 3M make them, they stop side viewing but also darken the screen.

Though the more obvious answer is if you have insomnia, staring at screens isn't going to help.

  • Have you tried using F.lux? Great for times when working in total darkness and min. brightness is too bright.

    • Yeah I use KDE Plasma’s night filter and have used redshift in the past. Tbh the reason for asking is I have downgraded from Linux based mobile to iPhone 6S and they are BRIGHT

  • iPhones and iPads can be set up with low light filter in the settings to get super dim screens. I wonder if MacBooks have a similar option. It’s hiding in accessibility options.

  • Just wear sunglasses.
