ALDI Special Buy Return- Espresso Machine Less than 12 Months Old

We bought this espresso machine less than 12 months ago (Maybe 8 months). We still have the receipt.

In our grounds we've found TINY bits of metal which I can only assume is from the mechanism inside as the times it has happened has been with different coffee grinds.

I believe its a 3 year warranty so thats not an issue.

I see everywhere I need to call the returns/warranty hotline which then might put me in touch with the manufacture.

Can I just walk in with the machine and receipt and get a refund?

Nah blame everybody on every forum first after all they are guilty Aldi freaks?

I had a faulty Aldi pedestal fan with a 3 year warranty. I called the manufacturers hotline, and was told that they would arrange for the fan to be picked up and accessed. If they verified the fault they would refund me. I felt it was too much of a gamble to return it that way. So, I just took it into my local Aldi store with the receipt, and they refunded me on the spot.

Yes, with your original receipt (or another proof of purchase, such as your paid with CC and got transaction details to go to purchasing store to reprint that receipt).

Yea, i think that is just Espresso CS service. They ofcourse will not really be able to do much in this case, (its not amazon where you can return the item via like auspost and they ship you new replacement). I have had a few people who tell me their stories or email about them contacting the customer service somewhere etc etc. (truth is none of that really matters, if you just looking for a warranty refund of genuine purchase).

    • Thanks.

Does it have to be the same ALDI?

Does it have to be the same ALDI?

Not if you already have your original receipt (as long as you still in Australia)

Yes if you dont have original receipt (then you need to go to original store to reprint original receipt, then you can return at any ALDI within Australia with that receipt)

Generally no, but in general returns are far easier if it is to the purchasing store.

@Daabido: Within 60 minutes of the actual purchase time.

Maybe this works at the ALDI store that you work at.
It won't fly at my local ALDI stores as they can't see what items I have purchased for that sum of money.

You need to talk to a MANAGER (not store assistants), they have access to see the past store transactions (at their store), you need to give all necessary details i.e. transaction date, last 4 digits of Eftpos/Debit/Credit card used (if you used Google/Apple/Samsung Wallet then provide them details of that card in the Wallet as that is what merchant sees), transaction amount, may be at least 1 item you bought in that transaction too) with this details Managers are able to print out old receipts for items bought from their store.

If you on other hand paid with Cash, it is very difficult to confirm that you bought item.

That being said I can totally understand if your Local store could not do it at a particular time, (the IT infrastructure is really not the best, you can probably tell it already by your shopping experiences especially at like how often some random cards just fail at specific POS terminals).

        • like how often some random cards just fail at specific POS terminals

I thought I was jinxed that my ING card wouldn't work for long periods of time at ALDI

  • What kind of grinder is in the machine? Can you visually check the grinding components as you may be able to identify the source of the metal shavings?

But as above, doubt you'll have any issues taking it back with your receipt.

So you walk into the store, and they give you a refund then throw the coffee machine out in the rubbish. That's how it works with big stores. And everyone else with one of them continues drinking coffee with tiny bits of metal in it.

Just go straight to the counter with defective item & receipt. One thing I love with Aldi is their returns policy on defective items.. Simply no questions asked from my personal experience

    • because they know they sell rubbish.

Not them personally, but it is a step above Ali/Temu, most of the time.

      • Haha, well the special buys can be a hit or a miss (similar to any discount store products such as kmart / bigw / target/ reject shop…).
I’ve had better luck for the consumables sold during special buys + baby clothing and winter wear.

        ymmv ofcourse :-)

OP is it a capsule coffee machine? As I have only ever seen capsule coffee machines in Aldi. If it is a capsule machine (then there is no grinding), could the metal shavings you are seeing be the remnants of aluminium capsule cover when it is pierced to push the water through it?

  • This is the problem with buy these sorts of items from Aldi…fast fashion fast electronics..fast welders…

Just remember there is no store exempt from sorting out warranty issues if that’s where you purchased it.

If they don’t have a process to deal with the manufacturer that’s on them.

Just take your receipt and a description of the issue, photo’s/videos generally assist speeding things up if you can though not required.
