Whirlpool Dishwasher Feedback and Suggestions for Alternatives

Hi all,

I'm looking to get a new dishwasher and came across the Whirlpool WDFS3R4NBSAU from Harvey Norman (https://www.harveynorman.com.au/whirlpool-60cm-14-place-sett…) which fits into my budget nicely and seems to have good reviews (albeit, from the Whirlpool website). I've been using a Bosch lifestyle series model for the last 5- 6 years but it's awful and has chipped off many of the dishes (including Pyrex and Corelle) even though the wash programs were on the 40-45 degree setting. The most recent reviews for Bosch series 6 and 8 on productreview and other sites have been very negative.

Does anyone have the model I've given the link for? Any experience with post sales support from Whirlpool?

I'd like to keep my budget well below the $1500 mark.

I'm also getting a cooktop as well as an oven, so if anyone can tell me how much of a further discount I should haggle for, I'd appreciate that. ( at this point, its all amounting to $3800).

Thanks in advance.

p.s. I can't seem to add tags associated with this post for some reason, so if one of the mods can update that, I'd appreciate it. cheers :-)

Go Miele if you can afford it

    • Originally kept that outta the list of possibilities, but reconsidered it after I went to Harvey Norman and saw their offers.

Should be able to get a Miele G5000 for less than $1400

    • Cheers for the suggestion. Went with that exact model. :-)

  • Why the miele?

I'm a rusted-on Miele owner but Whirlpool's MaxiSpace Dishwasher with SpaceClean 3rd Rack looks quite compelling.

  • That's the first time I hear a bad review on the Bosch series 6 or 8!!

The miele on the other hand looks like hit and miss. Lots of bad reviews on any websites such as Hardly Normal.

    • If you go on ProductReview, there's heaps of terrible reviews, especially for the Most Recent ones for the Series 6 and Series 8. But, I agree with the hit or miss argument as it seems to apply to all the brands nowadays, sadly. Gone are the days when we could count on at least a brand or two doing a good job and lasting for 10-20 years. That's why I went with Miele's current 5 year warranty offer, 'cause if I can at least get the machine to last for that time frame, I'd consider myself lucky.

  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Funnily enough, decided to go with the Miele G5000SCCLST as they've got a 10% discount as well as a 5 year warranty on offer right now. The warranty would at least alleviate a bit of the buyer's remorse if in case it conks out anytime in the next few years.

I've been looking at this one too. What an ugly beast haha
My only doubt are the review on this one. Let me know if you're happy with it please.

    • I'm on my third Miele DW, the first two each having lasted around 15 years. My last one was still repairable but at high cost. I think they don't quite last the promised 20 years because they get used daily, where washers often get the odd day off. The dsishwashers appear to have undergone an internal re-design which may address the failure points in the earlier machines.

      • Which one do you have?

        • G7319 SCi XXL semi-integrated, ex-display stock from Miele's Outlet
