How Best to Recharge with Boost Mobile?

I've had boost mobile for 11 months and am coming up to recharging at the end of the month. I've been happy with the service from Boost so far.

What is the best way to recharge? It seems that Boost mobile offers lots of specials to get new customers but there is no flexibility/cheaper rates when recharging. Any thoughts/advice?

Step 1, ~$5 sim and transfer/port out of boost
Step 2, Discounted 'new customer' sim and transfer/port back into boost
    Step 3, Repeat in 12mths

      This

It usually takes about 10 minutes all up. You can often get Lebara SIMs for $4-6 at Colesworths. If one doesn't have them on special, check the other.
You can't do it with a $2 SIM because most want you to recharge during activation, so the Lebara SIMs are the next cheapest method.

yep, my last couple have been $5 aldi sim due to just always being easily available

        • Only downside I've observed doing this is that you lose your voicemails.

    • Exactly. I usually spend a month on Lebara, the $4 sim comes with enough bonus data for this.

What is also good to remember is - you do not need to port before sim expire. Both will keep your number for months afterwards. If all you want is to reserve your number and get incoming calls/texts, you can hold back a little and renew or migrate when you need to make a call or need the data. I do this when I am traveling.

  • I am on the same boat, have been recharging for 12months but now cannot find any discounted recharge voucher. I thought of porting out and porting back but have heard sometime quick porting out/back could be an issue with Boost and you need to call Boost to fix that. I did try last year going to another provider Moose and the amount of Spam text strated receiving was painful doesn't matter how much I tried to block. ANY advice would be appreciated to reduce the recharge fees.
