At Costco Ringwood now, looks like it might be sold out

This looks like the shelf, and you can see the empty cardboard stashed away in the back.

Google Nest Hub (Google Assistant) used to be a very good product
But feels like the service is deteriorating in last few years
Its not as responsive as before, and its not "clever" either

With multiple nest minis, nest hubs and nest hub max at home, here are some "annoying" things:
    - it randomly starts to "speak" while no one says "hey google" or "ok google"
    - asking to play a music video need to really specify lots of details, such as "youtube video" and "from which channel", otherwise easily picks a wrong one
    - there are times where multiple nest devices answering the same command, and play music separately

I have a feeling Google is just clearing out stocks and publish new products that works with their new gemini AI model
with new AI feature it will be more "personalise" in answering commands, such as understanding user behaviour (eg. you always want to play that song, it should not pick a wrong one if you ask again the next day)

    • Just to clarify, not to say I dislike the product
I still use my nest hub and nest hub max daily
Now even my 23months old daughter knows how to say "ok google"

Also like the feature that nest hub linking with google photos as a digital photo frame
Since my phone automatically backup photos to google photo
nest hub always display those up-to-date photos without any manual settings

    • Totally agree with you, the nest hub is crap, only good for clock and pictures (as well as sleep tracking (this feature should have been made paid in 2024 with Fitbit subs, but somehow did not happenned)).

The nest hub Max is better, still usable, also OK Google answers are crap too.

I think you're right regarding Gemini AI, but I don't think it will join new hardware this year. Probably next year

  • Also at Bundamba - Ipswich

    • Around how many stock left?

  • i accidentally picked a max card instead , so not sure but looked heaps - i got 2 for homeassistant use

  • +1

Also in Costco Adelaide, 9 chalk ones and 11 charcoal ones left a 2:44pm

    • all sold out now

  • Plenty of stock left in Costco Docklands - price on pallet not updated, but scans at $39.97

    • Now been Ozbargained, sorry!

      • Woah how many did they buy?

  • Can anyone confirm is there's stock at alburn?

    • +1

I didn't look for them specifically, but I recall seeing the mini version (no screen) seemingly on special near the entrance on a table. Didn't pay too much attention though.

Called just before they closed, they have confirmed the item is inactive and none at Lidcombe, Casula, nor Marsden Park.

  • Any stock in WA?

    • You can call them to check stock, item number: 119123.

    • No stock, I called earlier

  • Can confirm there was stock at Casula NSW earlier today.

Edit; Casula only has the Nest Audio in stock (Item 119116)

  • The Nest Hub is actually surprisingly useful. Bought one from an earlier deal with the intention to display calendar and to run some apps.

Turns out it doesn't work like a traditional tablet, and it is mostly driven by voice for home automation. Was a bit disappointment initially as we don't have many smart devices to automate.

Then I realised it can play radio, podcast, cast video, display for security cameras. Any one of those functions is worth the $50 we paid for. It's now on my desk like a companion device to the computer.

  • And no NSW? Why… Costco you discriminate us

  • +1

At Cost o Ringwood now, sold out again

  • +2

White ones still in stock at Canberra. Had to ask the staff at the checkouts.

    • Costco Canberra is now out of stock, staff verified inventory on their terminal.

  • Anyone tried to price match?

    • I tried the chat option with JBHIFI and received this from them "Unfortunately we're not able to price match this one because Costco is a members-only shop. "

  • +2

Costco Moorabbin have plenty in stock, they are just not out on the floor. Go to the Frontend desk near the food court and ask them to get one for you. Currently there are about 15 Nest Audios and over 30 Nest Hubs (Charcoal).and around 10 Nest Hubs (Chalk)

  • Sold out at Ispwich QLD. Last ones went this morning apparently. They were selling Google Nest Audio for $39.99 and Chromecast too but didn't see the details of that.

  • Anyone tried connecting these to Ring Doorbelll?

  • +1

Can confirm no Nest Hubs left at Costco Moorabbin.I paid for 2 and then they said they had no stock left so refunded me the money this was around 4:45pm yesterday.

  • I bought 2x in Docklands and there were only 2x charcoal left at 1130am, although system said 9?? Good luck my fellow OzB'er bros … May the force be wid chu. Aiiiite.

  • Anyone in Victoria kind enough to help me buy one?
