  • Thanks, I think this brand didn't sell well.

On my way to grab a couple of PAR38s for the back yard :)

      • +2

The par38s are the pick of the bunch, lumen per watt for that style is very reasonable .. and it’s $2! Haha

      • Yeah, very cheap, not very sure if it fit my back yard one, raining outside couldn't check, are they standard?

        • Don’t see why they wouldn’t assuming it’s the standard security fittings from like 20 years ago. Looks like more or less standard par38 size.

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Just bought 2 x par38 warm white deliver with my re-visit onepass trial, good deal just $4 (don't want more no use)

            • +3

@superforever: Just replaced my prehistoric 150W ones with the 15W warm white. Perfect fit and they look exactly the same apart from being a quarter of the weight lol. Seem just as bright too, if not brighter.

              • +1

@tightarse: And 1/10th of the power consumption… win!

              • +1

@tightarse: But are they good for outdoor use? Simple filament bulb might be much more weatherproof than these led ones.

                • @constipated: Only time will tell. Look good to me and at night I can actually tell they are brighter than my old filament ones. Not going to complain over $4 :)

    • They are mostly for big builders, who have to have bulbs in the house before hand over….

      • These aren't good quality? I recently bought this brand and just placed an order now since they're on sale.

        • Ive been using the brand for a while and found them to be comparable to Philips/Osram. I like the exposed filament ones that do things like 800lumen on 6W. But that one is rarely on special.

      • Surprised some still use batten holders and globes when 8-10w polycarbonate downlights can be bought for like $6 a pop

        • Batten light fittings need a power socket installed to power the downlight, or can't cut a whole where the existing batten is. I'm preferring to replace some battens with downlights, but I'd need too many downlights to light up the area that one 10w LED is giving out.

My kids asked to get their battens replaced with downlights. I warned them it's not as "bright" and it only lights up the area practically underneath it. They insisted and then cried they aren't bright enough shrug

    • Not the brand as not all are reduced. e.g. these are still full price - which of course are the ones I need.

    Awesome deal thanks OP

Bunnings uses Australia Post to "deliver" - so factor in a trip to the post office when AusPost can't deliver because "no one was home".

    • +1

They don't use auspost. They use some other quick service atleast in my area.

    • +1

They leave them at our back door if were out.

      • They leave them at our back door if were out.

Yeah, you can select "Authority to leave unattended"

    • What store is this? The standard is via courier (most commonly Zoom2U or ANC). Aus post is used as an absolute last resort if no other option is available.

      • I've only had AusPost here in South Adelaide.

Including these which have already been processed.

  • I remember when LED household bulbs got down to $100. Now they are 50 cents each.

    • +5

Now people spend the power savings on an 85” tv!

    • Little ones are $2 for 2 or $5 for 4
      Par 38 are $2 ea or $15 for 2.
Looks like Gerry's rejects give quantity discounts.

For bedroom lamp, 6w or 8w?

    • +6

      6, 8, wattever it takes.

    • At this price just buy 2 of each!

(4x globes of each … to give a spare if one dies down the track)

More dim the better, hide my rolls better…

For LED, better check the CRI RA index. Cheap ones won’t be good to eyes.

    • +2

How can you check the index? I don't think CRI is mentioned anywhere on the packaging.

      • That’s why I will probably avoid this kind of product

      • if it’s a decent CRI (min 80, 90+ ideal) it would say. so guessing they’re not the greatest. fine for the garage light or patio, probably want to avoid for your bathroom mirror lighting

        • +1

          So no good for dining?

          • +2

@neonlight: CRI is colour rendering index. so the higher the CRI, the more true to colour it’ll show. sunlight CRI is 100. task lighting, displaying artwork, bathroom for shaving make up etc you want higher CRI. depends on personal preference for dining

      • If CRI isn't mentioned, it's probably not great.

Though having read the noobs guide the other day, CRI isn't a good indicator when it comes to LEDs or warm-skewed light sources anyway. Still, it's the only measurement that manufacturers will provide (sometimes).

I checked this brand out, no mention of CRI, so I just assumed they don't score well enough to justify putting the number on the box.

Feels so good to get free delivery using one pass for a $2 item

  • +1

I have used this brand quite a bit and find they last just as long as the Philips branded ones

    • +2

      Philips don't last.

However the Luce bella. I think I tried them and didn't like the colour.. it seemed off somehow. Or maybe I have Alzheimer's and am totally wrong

      • +2

Generally cheaper globes have lower CRI ratings

      • Yeah, some low quality LED and florescent sources have really nasty gaps in their emission spectra. Things will just look weirdly off under this kind of lighting. Skin tones especially, because they really rely on reds.

Random example pulled off the internet.

  • +3

Free delivery with one pass! Can’t ask for more. Got this from last deal, using these without any problems.
    Thanks TA

Good to know someone used these in past. Bought 32 MR16 for all living areas. Thanks TA

  • No incandescent?

    • +1

      I'm LED with rage!

  • Whats the difference between cool and warm white?

    • Temperature?

    • +1

      cool - office/servo station
      warm - like being in a bedroom/restaurant

      • +3

Cool white also for every middle easterners house I’ve seen

        • And at least 50% of Chinese households.

    • +1

      Cool is a whiter white.
      Warm is a yellower white.

    • +6

Its winter mate get the warm one

  • Cheers got a few

  • Thank you, I got 3 boxes, the e27 800 lumens ones are a good upgrade over the Ikea ones.

  • +2

not as bright or pure white as the Philips

  • A couple es27s ~800lm~2700K please

  • +1

i bought 1 of each, lol. b22 and e27 in both 470 and 806 in the cool white. i hate warm white, feel like i have a dim bulb from 50 years ago. regular white would be my next option.

Thanks! Just got some PAR38s to replace two blown globes in my bathroom 3in1 fan. My bathroom has always had poor lighting, not any more!

  • The G4 out of stock for most places around me, had to split orders…

  • is it possible to put par38s into a normal general lamp housing, you know those cheap 20 dollar stick looking lamps? usually I put the a60 standard ones but one area of my place I'd like a brighter light.

  • I just got a bunch of MR16 LEDs and EACH one of them were faulty! Will be returning them all Tuesday when I get around there.

    • How can this he,bad batch?

      • That's what I thought. Just unlucky I suppose.

        • I ordered about 34 off those, may as well check all of it on arrival. Thanks for heads up

        • +1

@CocaKoala, thanks for your post. I checked few boxes and they all flick for 1st and then don't stay lit. I will be returning all 15 boxes of MR16. I wondered if it worked for anyone….

  • YMMV but I've found the Luce Bella bulbs emit a hum - which if you can hear it - may very well drive you insane.

    • How’s it compare to the hum in other electric devices, like laptops?

  • Thanks OP bought 10 boxes so should cover us for the next 5-10years around the house.

  • good price

  • Tested a few and working for me, no flickering etc as some others have mentioned.

I have noticed a very soft hum with some of the MR16's though.

  • Looks like I got a dud PAR38, installed, turned on and it flashed once, tried reseating it but it doesn't turn on. Other bulbs work fine in the fitting.
Should I bother trying again with a replacement or are these just useless?

  • Mine turned up and I have installed them under the patio area. I got the cool white par38's. I knew the light was white but when I got the anchor to come outside and give her opinion on them compared to the filament par38's, she says to me "It's like daytime out here now" Well that answer was good enough for me so I've ordered more to keep in storage. What a cracking price. Cheers OP

    • I like how your nickname for her is "the anchor". Did she come up with your nickname on here? :)
