I have used this for years, works fine and much cheaper than H&S.

    • Had same issue, now i use T gel twice a week, and i dont see any dandruff on my shirts, no itching as well

      • You mean Neutrogena T/Gel??

        • Yes

You probably didn't have dandruff, but dry scalp. Pay attention to the colour and size. This uses the same active ingredient/treatment as head and shoulders so will probably give you similar results.

Try T gel or a shampoo with eucalyptus oil.

      As for causes..

Dry scalp is caused by a lack of moisture in the skin while dandruff is caused by an excess of oil on the scalp and an overgrowth of Malassezia yeast.

  • That's alot of sulfate.. Doing more harm than good to your head.

    • Interestingly I haven't had a dandruff problem since I switched to sulfate-free shampoo.

I think that it was probably the sulfates in generic shampoo causing the dandruff to begin with.

The anti-dandruff shampoo, even though the added zinc pyrithione helped remove the dandruff, I suspect it was still causing the same underlying problem due to the sulfates.

Avoiding sulfates seems to have done the trick for me, but perhaps I just have sensitive skin.

      • For me i just needed to stop using shampoo altogether. Give it a few weeks.

If you've got dandruff you're better off using a shampoo with ketoconazole (which is medically proven to mitigate it) e.g. Nizoral for effective treatment rather than something random

    • I've had issue with dandruff since I was a kid. Ketoconazole is indeed very effective but its not meant for daily use. I still use head and shoulder for day to day use, then use ketoconazole shampoo once a week to keep my black tshirt getting snowflakes

  • Tried almost all above mentioned shampoo and finally Cedel worked for me.
