Is there a smarter way to find Stay Plus nights than trial and error on the booking form?
I'm searching for a night at the Sofitel Sydney Darling Harbour — obviously one of the hardest properties to find a night at. Checking each individual date isn't much fun. "Your Stay Plus free night is not available in this destination. Take advantage of ALL member rates."

As you say, pick "Sydney NSW, Australia", pick an arrival/departure date, set "Stay Plus" to Yes and then Search. "Open Rate Calendar" on the property you want to search and then you can view 7 days plus scroll to a further 7. Since you can only book about a year out, that means running 26 searches to check every date.
Yep, although note that it isn't a year out as you can only search to the expiry of your membership year.
For example, if your Accor Plus membership gets renewed end of November you won't be able to search for free nights after that date (as you have to book AND stay before your renewal date).
I don't currently have my free night available so can't confirm the exact process. But try a generic one night search for the city "Sydney" then scroll down to the Sofitel and pick "open rate calendar" and step through one week at a time.
