Electricity Bill Ergon - Can You Help Me Understand "Feed-in-Tarif Payment"

Hi All,

Not sure, if anyone else is on the same boat as me with Ergon. I am unsure what are these 'feed-In-Tariff' payment charges of $240 on my recent bill.

I have tried looking it online, have stayed on phone for hours (but no one answers), and haven't heard back on the email I sent 2-3 days ago.

    • Thank you for sharing it, possibly. Didn't get any advice from them.

  • I've never seen a charge like it. You should go to the Ombudsman as the retailer is not explaining the charge.

    • They would explain it, just don't know how long they would take it. Phone queue wait is horrendous.

You had a credit. They paid it as cheque.

It's down as a charge when you look at the bottom line

If a customer has a credit against their account, they do need to 'charge' it against their account to remove it. Otherwise it'd just stay there as a credit.

        • This is a negative charge, you have their usage and this charge coming to roughly 360, then his credits coming to about 410, leaving him 50 in credit

@CantonasKungFuKick: If you have $300 in credit with your phone provider, and you want a refund of that credit, they need to debit/charge your mobile account $300 to remove it from the balance.

It looks like that's just what's happened here. The name "Feed-in-Tariff payment - Cheque" is pretty self-explanatory - the amount is based on the credits from their feed-in tariff, and it's being issued to the customer via cheque.

This is also backed up by the fact that their website states "Solar credits on your account will be automatically refunded by cheque every 12 months"

@dm02: Thank you, didn't receive a cheque. But this looks like it perhaps. Grateful.

You can request a refund if your account is in credit
Solar credits on your account will be automatically refunded by cheque every 12 months, but you can request a credit refund at any time.

Did you receive a cheque from Ergon recently? A refund would be reflected as a reduction to the credit balance (ie a charge) as seen in your bill.

    • Not yet, but guessing that would be in the mail. Thanks :)

Can't argue here because I get negged under all the time.
Ergon punished me for being married and the ombudsman thinks rightly so!

    • :(. Feel free to share it, I won't neg you buddy.

        Thanks,
they print multiple coloured invoices to obscure their extra charges for unwanted smart meters.
Then they mail out charity begs.
Their accounting base no longer caters for married couples sharing the same surname.
Network availability has improved we do get written outage notices that usually happen at a different time.
Brisbane knows this all, the send out cost of living money, 500 for people who saved money and 1000 for bogans.
But hey free extra volts: We usually get between 246 to 248V
Most annoying: every time they screw up their accounting you got to battle long phone wait and stay home a few days for their linsmen to see if your smart meter is still there.
Ah well we are also promised 50c bus fares. We had many free trials and it never even took a single car off the road.

          Problem solved…

Looks like they sent you a chq for $240.23.

Some companies only let you carry a credit over for a certain period of time before they pay it out.

Edit - Just the comment above, looks like you have that on your bill, solar credits on your account will be automatically refunded by cheque every 12 months.

So you have a chq in the mail.

So you have a chq in the mail.

How do we bank the cheque using online banking?

All our nearest local branches have closed down.

      • NAB allows you to bank your cheque via online banking - scan front and back and upload via internet banking. Others may do similar.

        • I don't think CBA do.

        Post it to them 😂

        • Our local post office closed down too.

            Where do you live!?

            • @JimmyF: In a house.

              • @jv: I highly doubt that… Unless its a house of #jvlies

As your nearest branches isn't closed down, your nearest branch is 3-4 km away.

So the one 3-4km closed down? As that is your nearest branch is it not?

    • Thank you, eagerly waiting for it now :).
