Ecovacs GOAT G1 Robotic Lawnmower $1998 (Was $2999) + Delivery ($0 C&C/ Limited in-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

130

This is a really good price for a recently released wireless automower.

If you're paying someone to mow your lawn for you, it really does pay itself back over a few short years.

Looking at the other boundary wire free offerings I don't think you can get anything cheaper than this apart from possibly the Segway navimow once the low capacity version comes to Australia.

  • I was watching a lawn care video on YouTube that caught my eye, and the guy used something like this on a really hot day. One of the use cases for this thing. It is I can only imagine the price to reach something like 600 dollars eventually, which makes a bit more sense.

Actually, I think it was a remote controlled one, not an auto mower.

This is partially true. Husqvarna has been dominant in the field for over a decade, and only in the last year or two have Chinese smarthome/robovac companies joined the mix. This has somewhat coincided with the advances in technology drifting down from the robovac space allowing boundary wire free operation.

While the Chinese products pose a better price:feature ratio than the Husqvarna incumbents, the barrier to entry for a wireless automower is still extremely high ($2000 for the Goat G1 now being the lowest to date) and should still come down ove the next few years.

Interestingly though I remember xiaomi's roborock flagship S5 frequently being sold for $500 in 2020 and now their flagship product is $2500, so who really knows which way prices will go as technology develops?

  • Finally something worth putting in my perfectly spotless and empty truck bed.

Mammotion Luba 2 looks even cooler

  • They really named that thing right "goat" 😆

  • Can this use 10% code?

    • No, but you can use the $10 welcome code. You can use the 10% code on the additional beacons (if you need extra).

  • is this the original G1 that doesn't support multi-zone or the new G1-1600 that supports multi-zones management?

I can't tell from JB's website but judging from the discount, I'd guess JB's trying to clear old stock and hence an older version?

Or I can be totally wrong and they are the same product and multi-zone was enabled via a software update? Appreciate someone who owns the original GOAT-G1 can provide answers
