Shokz Openfit Vs Openfit Air (New)

Hello there,

EOFY sales are sort of here and was looking into the OpenFit for the longest time. Its on sale down to $245 right now. However I realised there is a new model on their official website the OpenFit Air and only for $199. Seems like its marketed to be a cheaper alternative to the regular one.

Specs wise the air is slightly worse, but I feel like most of them are quite negligible. Summary of specs that matter listed below:

Air vs Regular:
6Hrs - 7Hrs
8.7g - 8.3g
30d - 10d standby time
$199 - $245 (sale)

Wanted to reach out to the community if anyone has experience with the OpenFit? Wanted to see if they are a good fit for running/cycling as well as office use (not too noisy area). Mainly I would use it for cycling, a bit concerned with the potential wind noise. Tried the open runs before and its not an issue, but wanted something with better sound and fully wireless.

Let me know your thoughts, and which one do you think its a better buy!

  • I find the attachment easily dropped when you unclip your helmet.

    • Ok something to consider, how about wind noises?

  • +1

No experience with OpenFit or Air, however I have tried other similar open ear true wireless headphones. The problem with those open ear design is that it needs a vent to push the sound into your ear, and that's where the sweat might get in when you go running or cycling. I have one pair died on me because of this — or it might just be a bad quality product found on Aliexpress. On the other hand, my bone conduction headphones last a lot longer even Aliexpress ones.

  • I have just bought the OpenFit and I don’t love how they fit onto my ear. The Air seems to perhaps sit in the ear a bit more so it might be a bit more secure.
I love the idea of it but I find it a bit loose. Maybe I need to try playing with it a bit more.
