  • whats the meaning of G or H ? and do they fit true to size?

    • +6

H is wide fit, G is regular fit.

It's frequently recommended that you go into a RM Williams store and get sized up.

      • bought but luckily can return them… but are they true to size?

        • +5

RM sizing is quite unusual in terms of how they fit on your feet. My brother and I have the same size runners, but we have different RM sizes.

It's not the shiny black :(

    • +4

Ah damn, you're right, rubbish colours again.

DJ call them black on the site, but obviously look oily black.

Could have copped a pair, thanks Op.

      • It does say its crazy horse leather, so it won't be shiny.

        • +1

Crazy horse.. had a quick look at RM, they don't have the black so perhaps old stock.

Yeah the title slightly misleading as it isn't the normal black ones everyone wants.

Reported the title suggestion to save people some grief as I almost bought before I saw that comment (but shouldn't and won't bother, not vegan nor need formal attire that often since Covid)

It’s the ugly black no one wants to buy

      • +1

i like this black, it is matt black

        • Yeah I don't mind to be honest, like that greasy leather. Just a lot more casual

    • How many types of blacks are there? I was going to get one

      • +1

        Have a squiz here

I don't think it's actually the colour. It is yearling leather vs crazy horse leather. This is horse.

          • @Kongzi: Hmm interesting! Maybe the DJs description is incorrect then?

          • +2

@Kongzi: Crazy Horse Leather is a marketing term - it's full grain cowhide leather that isn't finished, so it retains an imperfect aesthetic. It's not horse leather.

            • +1

              @Meconium: Ah good to know.
Don't think people would buy them if it meant sacrificing a horse or dog.

PS crazy house is worth a visit if you are down in Soi Cowboy.

              • @G-rig: But you ok to sacrifice a cow 😱

                • @bought: I'm not, but it's the mentality of Australians, cows and chickens are ok but othe animals like pets aren't.

I wouldn't pay a ridiculous price for these nowadays anyway, the markup is insane over the space of a few years. Still got the leather ones from 6y ago but probably sell.

                  • @G-rig: Cordovan is what you’re looking for if you want actual horse leather :) apparently the quality is great

                    • @beltdrive: I'll be right. A mate has the kangaroo ones which are nice and soft.

                      • @G-rig: I meant in general, unfortunately RMW don’t make cordovan boots. Kangaroo leather is nice too tho

I have rockport boots that i like, but i do want to get a pair of RM Williams also…
I do prefer the normal shiny black comfort craftman…pity these are the oily ones…..
Vintage browns are quite 'bright', i do prefer the chestnut browns….
