    • Not sure, I heard the ad not yesterday, and about 10 mins ago this morning haiyaaaaa

    • It's probably only able to be used by calling as it's a promotion for their new calling service.

      • Yup, that's correct. As description says, you need to call them up and quote the promo code when booking

All they need is Uber Hail and we're full circle back to Taxi's….

    • +1

      Except taxis cost less.

      • +22

That was the plan all along. Disrupt the industry with supposed “innovation”, drive out the competition, then takeover the industry and charge higher prices.

        • +2

Makes sense, streaming is just cable but with more steps

      • Aren't all fares set by the govt

      • +15

Not in Perth, Uber to the airport costs me ~$35. Taxis range from $60 to $70 with the last one charging $93!

      • They don't - plus try catching one late at night in Melbourne and none of them want to put the meter on.

  • Hmm would it be better using app, to get the pickup locstion etc?

  • Reserve a trip with 13-UBER
For when you know you need to be somewhere – medical appointments, flights, weddings – call 13-UBER for trips up to 90 days in advance.

Does anyone know if the promo code is available to existing accounts, ie first ride via 13-UBER or does it need to be a new account altogether? Thanks

    • +1

I just called them and answered my own question, it needs to be your first ever ride for your account

      • Thats not correct.

I just called and booked for this Saturday and the lady confirmed that it just needs to be your first ride through 13UBER not your first ever ride for your account

        • +3

Wow ok, I even tried to book a ride and the lady on the phone declined the code referencing as it wasn't my first ride, it wasn't possible to make the booking with the code. Well done

          • @seanmilt: Lets just hope they dont stuff me around. Because you only get charged after the ride and i even confirmed with the lady the price. $57 before the code and about $7 should be charged after the ride.

If they charge full price then the call recording will definitely come in handy

        • Didnt work for me. Just talked to them. It has to be the first ride ever.

          • +1

@Danuk: My last Uber ride was in July 2022. I just checked the Uber app and the 13UBER lady added a $50 cash in my balance

            • @MrRehan: I wonder what will happen to the $50 if you had to cancel the ride

            • @MrRehan: So that means you can use the credit across multiple rides?

        • @MrRehan You were lucky the agent was able to add the promo or manually applied it. Did you also give your credit or debit card details over the phone?

I spoke to a male this morning who said the promo is for first time users of the phone call service 13UBER, not first ride. Booked a reserve trip for Friday. Had to give my card details over the phone (with recording off). I confirmed with the agent that he was able to apply RADIO50 promo code.

However when I checked the booking in the app, there was no promo code applied and the full price would be charged. Rang back, spoke to a different agent and was told I wasn't eligible. Booking was then cancelled by Uber as it was a mistake. I assume the promo code didn't work when it was applied.

          HAIYAA @Uncle Roger

          • @trixieb: Didnt give my card details, just confirmed the last 4 digits. I was a bit panicky as well when i saw the full price on the booking and no promo code was applied but then i saw the customer support balance that was added this morning.

            • @MrRehan: Thanks. $50 was probably applied manually.

I thought it was odd that the agent needed all my card details when the same card is already linked to the account. He said what was on the app was separate to the phone order. Hopefully he is not a scammer, working for Uber.

  • Any idea when the code expires?

    • +1

      After your first ride

  • -2

Code doesnt work. prob targeted or for new accounts

    • +2

Did you call? Or did you copy the code into your app haiyaaa

  • -2

Says promo is expired for me….

    • Did you call? Or did you copy the code into your app haiyaaa

      • Ha ha sorry skim read the description :) Will call up!

  • Tried calling was told the same. For new customers only.

  • can you pay using credit on your Uber account or dose it have to be card?

  • +1

Just got off the call, it has to be the first ride ever. Not just the first ride using 13uberride.

    • So just say your name is Mr incognito.

      • Its via phone number. I did not give any other information. CSR informed as per records, u are not eligible as this will not be ur first ride.

  • Uber are offering miniscule rates to their drivers for these reservation bookings, very close to $1 per 1km. also requires you to be online 45min before the trip is scheduled.

  • When does this expire?

  • Thank u OP. I just used it for a ride home from work. Was 76 minus 50.

Had to use a new number new account.

  • This deal may work for me.

I have never used Uber, but I had an Uber App on my old phone. TPG cancelled the number on this phone when I was overseas and would not reconnect me when I returned.

When I tried to re-establish the Uber App, Uber insists on sending the OTP to this cancelled number.

  • Has anyone tried cancelling their ride to see if they can retain the credit? Cheers

  • Can't remember exactly what I heard today on 3AW, but code may have changed to NEWS50

  • +1

    Thanks OP…RADIO50 still working today

  • What other information do they require to set up the account? Can you keep using different numbers for this offer?

I just wanted to share my recent experience with this promo.

I made a new Uber account and saved my Revolut card with a nil balance. I called Uber and mentioned the promo and the operator applied a $50 credit to my Uber account after confirming I was eligible. The operator tried book a ride for me but for some reason wasn't able to, and I was told to call back to try to rebook.

After the call, I noticed on the Uber app that the $50 credit didn't have to be used only for Uber rides, so I used it towards a couple of Uber Eats order, coupled with the $15 credit for new users, as well the 2-month free Uber One subscription.

I'm not sure if it was due to having an Uber One subscription, but I found quite a few places on Uber Eats offering BOGOF offers, so I was really able to maximise the $50 credit.

I was also able to apply the 50% off two Uber Reserve rides promo, and was able to make use of that too with the money left over.

It seems like when you call Uber, you need to book a ride on the spot, but if you could get the operator to just apply the $50 credit without booking a ride, you could use the credit for Uber Eats instead.

  • Just called them earlier today and they advised the code will expire tonight at 11:59pm. Also you cannot select airport as a pickup location over the phone. Only possible to reserve a ride from airport using Uber app. Wth.
