Origin One Big Switch Offer $200 Credit

So the Origin Energy One big switch $200 offer is back.

A couple of things grabbed my attention and wonder if anyone can shed light on them:

1.T&Cs say only 1 credit per 12 months. Now I was given $150 (cold call from Origin) to come to Origin a couple of months back. Took the credit, then went to Simply E, then AGL. Now coming back via O.B.S.. So I didn't receive a One Big Switch credit last time. So not sure if I'm eligible this time (vague T&C)? Took a screenshot for future $hit fight.

  1. To be 'safer, I chose 'start a new account' and I used a different phone number, and spelt my surname different by 1 letter. But..

At the end it said a credit check was performed. There was no warning about a credit check, and I have never seen that before? Churned 4 times in 6 months. Don't see a check on my credit file?
BUT .. if my name is spelt different this time..how is that going to play out? Got a credit card with my name different before (ID was verified in a branch and they didn't notice)..so maybe I have multiple credit files anyway.

  1. Need to stay until June 30, which isn't far away..but I expect some good EOFY offers coming. But the $200 normally disappears a month and a bit before June 30. So went with it.

    Is there a question

    • "So not sure if I'm eligible this time (for the One Big Switch credit) (vague T&C)?"

"There was no warning about a credit check, and I have never seen that before? "

As in I thought they need to prewarn you? (probs hiding in t&Cs). Never had a credit check in any of my previous churns, so wondering why now?

"BUT .. if my name is spelt different this time..how is that going to play out? "

      • There are 5 question marks but only 2 questions. The first 3 sentences are statements, not questions, even though they each end with a question mark

  • Those shiny new Government digital IDs will put an end to such shenanigans.

  • ..so, anybody had a Origin credit and One Big Switch credit in a 12 month period

  • Just would like to confirm is it

A new customer someone that leaves for minimum 12 months?

Also any disadvantage to keep on churning energy retailers to get the signup bonus?

I was worried about the $125 energy relief being discarded

    • I apparently got a credit check for the first time ever…so I guess they could be a disadvantage.

Dont know why they did one this time? Maybe because I used a different name and mobile number. So don't know where the credit check is going???

So I guess, why would you use your real name if they are doing credit checks?

*Note- for woolies points bonuses (I got 7500 from Origin in Jan), the name has to match. So if using an alias, make sure the Woolies account name is the same.

      • Understand thanks
