Was in Coles on Tuesday to buy a couple of Apple Gift Cards due to the Flybuys point special.
I left one of the gift cards at the self-checkout, I realised this while I was walking back home, I rushed back to the store a few minutes later and explained what had happened to the store manager, they checked the camera video and confirmed that the next person using the self-checkout had taken the Apple gift card.
They told me to contact Coles Support, Coles support told me to contact Apple, Apple tells me the store should have the barcode/serial number if I can pass this back to Apple they can terminate the gift card. The Coles store manager said the system is only showing the last few digits of the barcode, same thing I can see on my receipt. I have also spoken to Coles support who keep telling me to speak with store manager.
I feel like I am just going around in circles, all I need is the barcode that was scanned. Does anyone know if Coles or other Supermarkets like Woolworths actually record the barcodes that is scanned and whether it should be possible to get Apple gift card barcode from the Point of Sale system?
It's probably been used by now. Let it go, move on and live your life. Not worth the effort and stress.
