    • No I am a customer and have my own referral code. Edit: just noted its been adjusted to be put into the randomiser so I can understand your question now!

is it legal to own one of these if you don't live in Brunswick?

  • I’ve been interested in this for a while. Price seems expensive as a weekly cost, especially if adding ‘extras’. Is there a minimum hire period? Be good if they did a longer incentive like first 3 months at half price to give you a chance to really try out the lifestyle to see if it works for your family.

    • Agree it seems expensive, I took a while to signup and may buy my own bike in the future but its just too convenient for now.
The minimum hire is 28 days so you could theoreotically try it at half price for 4 weeks and quit.

      • It needs 28 days to cancel I think so would need to sign up and cancel same day lol

Which bike do you have if you don’t mind me asking?

It says after 6 months you can buy it out with a balloon payment - did they let you know what that is? I’ve been meaning to ask them to see if it’s worthwhile. I wonder if they give out refurb bikes when you hire or every one is new?

I think that should be fine to just tell them thats your intention to try it, but I havent done that so dont know! We had the GSD for 2 months then took a break for a month and now have the HSD so havent been offered the 6 month balloon payment so dont know that one unfortunately. I think the bikes when you hire are used, theyre in good condition but I can see existing kms on the odometer.
The GSD is absolutely incredible, but being in a small apartment we wanted to try store it vertical and I struggled pulling the weight up. The HSD is more compact and perfect for storing and easy to get vertical. Both ride great and similarly Id say that I only notice the difference when carrying a passenger up a steep hill (the HSD you can feel your weight, the GSD you dont notice you have a passenger). I have tried other ebikes and I find the comfort of terns particularly good, being able to sit up right having wrist supports. We did a test ride in store before signing up and Id recommend that if youre near!

@jessanna11: Thanks for all the info - really appreciate it!

  • The concept is good, especially for people wanting to test the waters before buying outright. Bikes are inner-city living centric, good quality and the service aspect appealing. A FB post mentioned demonstrators / returned bikes for sale at discount.

You would want to do a fair bit of commuting and travel to justify the subscription fees and outright ownership would be better value and question their subscription v ownership numbers.

Reid have a decent cargo bike with Ananda motor and dual batteries for $3200.

  • how do you get a referral?
Anyone here an existing subscriber? Would love to try this out for a month.

    • you get a referral in the referral links box at the bottom of the post through clicking on the underlined 'random' https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:referral_links you'll know you're in the right place if it says go riding with <person name> and has a form to fill in.

this is the way ozbargain does it to make it fair! hope you enjoy the bike, its been super fun for me :)
