I have a construction site camera setup powered by a 120W solar panel, a 12V 40Ah/20Hr battery with an MPPT controller, and a Rut240 4G modem. Currently, all footage is stored on micro SD cards within the Hikvision cameras. However, due to reliability and security concerns, I'm exploring alternative options such as integrating an NVR (Network Video Recorder) into the system or using a Raspberry Pi with Frigate software.
The issue with micro SD cards is their vulnerability to theft and tampering, which has happened on my site resulting in data loss during critical incidents like bike thefts.
My main questions are:
Can I add an NVR to my existing setup, and can it be powered from the same battery source? Is a Raspberry Pi with Frigate a viable solution for secure and centralized footage storage?
Any insights or guidance on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
