Not really looking for a bargain, but the last time i went to the dentist it cost me many monies - seems to be more of a money making scheme than a health care business now.
Enough with the whinge - anyone know of any reasonable priced but quality dentists in Sydney - Preferably close to the Pyrmont/CBD area.

Threadbump. Maybe I should start a new thread but I'm also looking for a cheap dentist that doesn't give you that shocked look when you say you don't have dental insurance and gives you a whopping bill to remove some tartar. I've only dealt with dentists east of the CBD though. I'm thinking to go far out west (no, not Malaysia…just yet…).
I should have got my free? dental check-up in the UK but I got lazy…

I have used Dr Peter Foltyn who is at St Vincent's Hospital. He's very good, and seems pretty cheap as its through the hospital. You might need to be a patient there now.
I've been going to Elite Dental Newtown http://www.elitedentalnewtown.com.au/ they have been great and are reasonably priced.
Always make you feel welcome and take there time explaining things to you. This can mean that you wait around in the waiting room though.

My dentist quoted me $50,000 to repair damage done through root canal work, (yes, I am older) then tried to give me two consultations for the same thing, and charge me … It's a Business all right. I Think the scare tactics on TV about third world conditions to stop dental tourism are just that, tactics. But recommendation is always best.
I know its a bit late on the reply, but i used to go to Dr. David Nguyen on glebe point road up near Wigram road. They are amazing, very friendly, small team. Well priced and surprisingly gentle. I have had extractions and root canals there and barely felt a thing. Highly recommend

don't go for the nogaps dentals
they gave me the runaround
they only do basic things without the gap
but it took me ages to get a proper quote and their admission that they have lots of excess charges for many items.
and I had to pay for consultations to get that info
