Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has any tips on an android phone with a good camera as its main feature, under $200 used or new.
I have the LG optimus p970 and on paper it's a good camera but the shutter lag is horrendous, even taking landscapes you're at risk of the scene changing significantly.
A 4 inch screen or higher would be a bonus if possible.
I read that HTC has put more into their camera feature and they generally take better photos, but I don't know if that's at the higher end of the budget.
I looked at the Sony Sola and Huawei G300 and the G300 seems like it might be an option, but just wondering if anyone else has any other knowledge or experiences that would be handy?
Thanks heaps.
(the reason I'm after a better camera phone is we always have our phones on us, but not always a bulky camera. It's a shame to miss some good shots of the kids because your phone's camera shutter lag is so ridiculously slow or it can't cope in anything less than full sunlight)
Cheap smartphones generally means lower quality image sensors.
Trusted Reviews say the Huawei G300 is pretty quick on shutter speed but fails to deliver in low light conditions.
The Xperia Sola is also pretty terrible at taking pictures — shutter lag and bad image quality.
HTC doesn't offer much in the budget category.
You're looking at some fairly low end ones like HTC Explorer and Wildfire S, and in the $200+ category there's the HTC One V which isn't very good value when stacked up against other options like the dual core Xperia U and Sola.
However, it seems to have a pretty impressive camera with HDR, photo capture while video-recording, low light shooting etc., so if the camera component is what you really need, the One V may be your best bet.
