Currently only have single items in stock.

They mention 'Save 5% when you buy $40 of select items' but there's no apparent way how to add S&S to the cart to qualify for that, and can only order 6 of these at a time with S&S. Perhaps if the 12 packs were in stock.

    • Awesome thanks, for some reason the 12 pack was greyed out from the single item page.

    * long life oat water

I wish it was as easy as you unoriginal low-effort comedians make it out to be, then I could make my own.

Getting the ingredients to mix and for the liquid to become oily enough, and hold it, including in coffee, is not easy. I've tried.

Not falling for marketing gimmicks and thinking for myself is unoriginal? That's the problem. Just because something is difficult to make, and is used like milk, doesn't make it milk.

    • Indeed, I you can get some oat flakes with water and make coffee?

    • +2

I had milk from a cow’s nipple in my coffee the other day. It was horrible. The sour taste overpowers the taste of the coffee beans. Glad to be back on Bonsoy and oat milk.

Regardless of it's production methods or use, it's not milk. I don't have anything against milk alternatives, we have some in the fridge. They just shouldn't be allowed to call it milk. Same with the others. It's purely a marketing ploy which I dislike in general.

      Milk definition
      "
an opaque white fluid rich in fat and protein, secreted by female mammals for the nourishment of their young.
      "

Last time I checked female mammals didn't secrete oats, almonds, soy beans, etc

      • Cambridge dictionary, Merriam-Webster, dictionary.com, Oxford dictionary, all also make reference to plants in their definition of milk. Additionally, it was tested against the Advertising Standards Board and found there was no issue marketing alternative milks as "milk"

It's 2024 bud, might need to move with the times.

        • -1

That's not really about moving with the times. They were allowed to call it milk for too long while no one cared, until alternatives exploded in popularity then it was too late. So instead of making the right decision, they gave in so they didn't upset people. Doesn't mean it's right, does mean I need to suck eggs though.

      • Coconut milk and peanut butter in shambles.

None of your points are original or insightful. They're taught talking points by an industry trying to defend itself.

        • -2

So your assumption is I'm defending an industry, which isn't true. I don't give a crap about the dairy industry and my opinions certainly aren't formed from anything they've said, although I assume it's mostly the same. My context is around misleading consumers. It doesn't come from a mammal, so this stuff isn't milk. And points don't need to be original to be correct. Calling this stuff "milk" isn't original either, and you certainly haven't brought any form of intelligent debate to the topic.

          • @TheJoker: Your words are not remotely original nor your own thoughts, even if you think they are. I've heard word for word identical 'clever' zings from people about oat milk for years now. You have no idea how unoriginal and easily influenced you are.

Nobody cares about this crocodile tears concern about whether it's milk or not except you people who've been told it's super important and you're super clever and insightful if you repeat the catchphrases. For everybody else it's boring and increasingly annoyingly repetitive noise.

I don't care if coconut milk comes from a mammal. I do not care if peanut butter contains dairy. I do not care if oat milk comes from a mammal. That isn't the reason people buy these things and you're not adding anything.
