Looking forward to their SOH gig in a few weeks! Won't have to wait all the way to the end to hear La Femme d'Argent heh

Ouch, sucks that I only learnt about this just now. Sold Out.

      • You'd have to fly to Sydney for it anyway, if that's any consolation. They're not playing anywhere else, just like last time when they were here for Vivid 2017

        • It's no consolation when you are already local. I can't keep up with stuff these days, always sold out before I have even heard about it. Why would they come all the way from France and do one show, terrible form, Vivid or not

          • @Jackson: They're doing three shows at SOH, not one. Not their fault you can't keep up with things. We're lucky to even get the shows in Australia considering their schedule as they're due in London right after and being so far away from France.

@kerfuffle: Opera house concert hall is relatively small for artists of this magnitude, they really should be playing larger venues. 2600 people is less than half the Hordern, and that's not the biggest venue. They could have done one show at many other places and left it at that, but nice show if you can get the tickets for it

              • @Jackson: Which is why they're doing multiple shows … I don't think Air would want to play at the Hordern. They only want to play at nice venues … like the Sydney Opera House Concert Hall. Notice that they never play anywhere else in the three times they've been to Sydney during their career? It's Concert Hall or nothing for them.

@kerfuffle: Clearly not multiple enough. ICC can hold 9k which is already 3.5 shows worth of people at the SOH, Qudos Bank holds 21k which is 8 shows worth of people at the SOH, yeah ok it's not the opera house but if they appreciated their fans they could do a show outside for the fans. We are chopped liver here in Australia, the least acts could do is come out and play a decent sized venue. Not to mention the fact they are only doing Sydney and nowhere else

@kerfuffle: They did play at the excellent V Festival (in 2008 I think) in Sydney.

@Oceadge: Yes I saw them at the Melbourne one it was a ripper. Bring back over 18’s festivals 😜🍺

@Oceadge: They did, in Centennial Park. They also played Sydney Opera House then (plus a MySpace Secret Show I was lucky enough to attend as I couldn't afford SOH tickets back then). Ever since then, it's only been Sydney Opera House (two shows for Vivid in 2017, and three shows for Vivid for 2024) and nothing else.

Isn't that the big single from the album?

      • @spendmore
Try the other album Walkie Talkie (2004), less poppy and smoother.

        • I will thanks!

@Spendmore: oops I mean Talkie Walkie!
            Much prefer it.

air were ok easy listening but imo they were a bit dull

edit: not to say that this is a bad album, just never really fully clicked with moi

    • Out of curiosity - did you listen to them when they were a fresh band offering something new, or rather not that long ago, when the music market was already full of next-level, intense experiences?

This is easily in my top ten albums

  • Great album. Although my friends and I affectionately refer to it as "the porn music album". :-)

For those who missed out on the Vivid shows, they're doing a livestream/playback of the Royal Albert Hall show on June 1 which you can buy a pass for here: https://driift.live/shows/air
