Samsung 75" QN85C Neo QLED 4K Smart TV (2023) QA75QN85CAWXXY

Good clearance deal for a TV that has been hovering during clearance ~$2200 to see it down to $1985.20 when link clicked for price beat, especially if you missed out on the EDU deal prior https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/842864

Compared to the higher end and more expensive QN90C & D models the blacks are not as deep side by side. I have a relative who has the same TV paired with Samsung Q-Symphony compatible sound bar at it looks nice in his lounge room that does not get a lot of sunlight so reflection handling is not so much an issue.

Arghhh… decisions decisions! I was one of them people who missed out on the Samsung EDU deal. This one is a tad more expensive so don't know if I should wait for EOFY sales or pull the trigger on this one.

I bought the qn85b 75” last year for around 2200$ directly from Samsung and i thought that was a great deal.

Its a great tv and the price is pretty good. I would recommend to buy now, not later

I'm in the same boat as you. Hard for me to pull the trigger at this price knowing that it was $200 cheaper just a couple of weeks ago. I think I'll wait for the TCL C845 75-inch to go back on sale for $1500

      • I might do the same :S

        • +1

Stock of TCL C845 might start disappearing since they're now starting to sell the newer C855

Appliance Central which usually has one of the lowest prices for the C845 only has the 55" on their website now, but selling the other sizes of the C855

    • +1

I have a feeling there was more QN85Cs floating around the brick and mortar store stock as it was not the most popular TV with heavy competition in the lower and higher end space on release.

With electronic retail sales grown tapering and now slightly down in the last few months there may be further sales around the corner, possibly one of those single sales where like years past where they drop substantially before hitting the not for sale state, but for the current pricing I think it is still a good buy.

The other consideration is whether you require a TV now or can wait. Some, not all, of the 2024 TV releases have seen a substantial increase in brightness performance so if you can wait until November there may be a better spec TV for the price.

Interestingly, the RTings review mentions streaming upscaling to be weak on this TV but I think it varies on the recorded quality as well - recent titles such as Andor and similar on Disney+ look superb on this TV.

Roughly 1787 if u use the good guys gift card from Aldi deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/842865

    • Sorry I've never purchased gift cards from Aldi before but from what I am seeing is that the 10% deal is only for certain gift cards so the highest one is $100 and there's a limit of 5 per customer? so that means you're only allowed to purchase $500 worth? There's another gift card which is maximum $500 but it doesn't seem like the 10% discount is applied to this.

    This vs the C845?

  • Wondering if they have it cheaper on the GoodGuys Commercial site?

    • +1

      Currently 1996 on GG Commercial!

      • Yep just checked. $10 more expensive ok the TGGC site 😬

  • +2

I ended up pulling the trigger. Contacted one of the stores directly and got a further $5.20 off so it ended up being $1980.00. Every dollar counts right? hahaha

I did the same. Was looking out for the TCL845 to come on sale again but there does not seem to be much stock around. Was also looking at the Sony 90L model but I have had great experience with Samsung and wanted to stay with them. This will be replacing a 2015 65 inch Samsung curved TV, expecting it to be a massive improvement. I will mainly be using it for gaming which I have read this TV is awesome for!

      • +3

        Exciting times ahead!

I will be using it for movies and also gaming. I was also looking at the TCL C845 but I didn't want to risk going for a less known brand even though it has fantastic reviews. I do currently have a Hisense so they are quite similar to TCL.

My new Samsung TV is being delivered this Sunday!

        • +2

Yep I cannot wait! Will be the largest TV I have owned. Looks like a descent jump in size between 65 and 75.

The reviews I read raved about how good this model is for gaming.

Awesome mate, I'm hopefully getting mine tomorrow but most likely won't get it set up until Monday night :(

          • +2

@Cruehead81: Did you have time to setup the new TV? Hope you did and you're absolutely loving it.

As for me I waited a few hours yesterday and I didn't receive any delivery text message so decided to give the store a call. They had no records of it being delivered today and even said it's a 2 day delivery timeframe for my area. It was 2 days as the order was placed on Friday and I had arranged for it to be delivered on the Sunday (yesterday).

Ended up chatting to the manager because it seemed like no one there had any idea what was going on. She ended up offering to waive the delivery fee of $55.00 plus an extra $100. Received a text message last night to let me know the delivery will be made today in the morning.

So the overall price ended up to be $1880 with free delivery so I am pretty happy with that.

            • +2

@mastermik3y: Sure did mate! Sorry to hear you had an extra wait but it definitely sounds like it was worth it for that price! Also it looks like stock sold out very fast so we were very lucky!

Had a bit of time with the new tele over the weekend. VERY impressed with the picture quality! Had to play around with a few options but I seem to be happy now.

Only complaint is - I run some of my old gaming consoles through my amp which is plugged in via eArc, the TV will not let me put the TV in game mode for these consoles. No biggie as they seem to have no lagging issues in standard mode at all plus my Series X and PS5 are plugged directly into the TV and look absolutely amazing.

I have a 55" LG C2 in my bedroom and this new TV definitely gives that one a run for it's money when it comes to picture quality, I might actually prefer the Samsung's picture a little better.

Be interested to hear your thoughts once you have it.

              • +2

@Cruehead81: I had a feeling that would be the case with the stock being sold out quickly. That's why we both had to make a quick decision. Last time I was too low and missed out on a great deal for this particular model.

Is your new TV located in a room that has a lot of light? just wondering how the picture quality is like and if there's a lot of glare.

And I've just received a text message saying it will be delivered later on this arvo. Can't wait to test out a few 2180P movies and connect my Xbox X to it!

                • +1

@mastermik3y: Can you please let me know how many remotes you get with yours? I read in a review two were supposed to come with it but I only seem to have the one smaller one….

                  • +2

@Cruehead81: Only received the one remote. What's the second remote for? I find the remote a bit too small hahaha but I think I just need time to get used to it.

I went from a Hisense 65 inch to a Samsung 75 inch so definitely massive improvements. Set up the TV quite late yesterday so I've only managed to test it out a little bit. I might try playing around with the settings over the next few days but overall I am happy.

                    • +1

@mastermik3y: Oh good, it may have come with the two remotes overseas or something. I had a spare remote from my old Samsung I am using over the one that came with it, way better!

Glad you are happy with it. I definitely noticed the difference going from 65 to 75! It's really hard going back to the 55 inch TV's in my other rooms now lol.

        • How are you enjoying the TV mate? I'm absolutely wrapped with it!! Fantastic for gaming and dare I say a better picture than my LG C2 OLED.

          • @Cruehead81: Yes I am also loving the new TV. Have you played around with the settings? Apparently there's recommended settings to use which is on the rtings website. I haven't changed anything yet.

I play FPS games on the Xbox so there's a feature where you can turn on which puts a larger crosshair on your TV screen. Very helpful because one of the games I do play has a small white corsair that's barely visible at times.

Also found out that the Samsung store had these babies back in stock and you can get a discount code from their online chat which brough it down to a very good price. That's the problem, you don't know when to pull the trigger! Hahaha!

            • +1

@mastermik3y: I'm not going to alter the settings as I'm really happy with how it looks! I only adjusted sharpness down to 0 and decreased brightness by 10.
Really? I wonder what they are selling for? I'm still happy with what I paid, worth every cent.

  • +2

If I open the curtains in the room it is in it has a fair bit of light coming through, I didn't notice any issues with glare when I had them open. Watching my first movie on it tonight, absolutely cannot wait!! I have it connected to my Onkyo amp and Klipsch speakers, so it's definitely got a cinema vibe happening now.

    • +1

Nice! I am glad it worked out. It is wild that the same year QN90C was almost 40% more expensive than this one when on sale as well.

      • +1

Thank you for posting this up!

    • Whenever I turn on the TV it automatically turns on my soundbar. Tried looking at the audio settings but couldn't see anything to disable this. I've been doing some reading and apparently I need to turn it off via my sound bar which is strange because my older TV didn't do this.

      • +1

Check the e-arc settings, trigger is sent through the hdmi

  • +3

Thank you !! I purchased this since I missed the OLED Samsung offer a few days ago.

  • +4

got it for 1780 and told them to price match it from the educational store with a 55 deliver fee https://imgur.com/a/4EdcI20

    • +2

Oh wow! Congrats on landing a great deal! I tried this via their chat and they wouldn't lower the price at all.

However they stuffed up my delivery so I ended up getting it for $1880 and this included delivery as well so pretty happy with the outcome.

      • +1

I recommend try both the store or different online agents to try negotiate with them because when i tried asking for a price match i didn't even send the educational portal link and they just straight up give me discount. It is very likely they're trying to get rid of last year's model

        • Yeah I also tried 2 stores. One said no and the other store gave me a $5 discount hahaha I will try chatting to different online agents next time. Thanks for the info!

    • +1

Got one delivered for $1750 + $55 delivery via chat…

Ordered yesterday and delivered today in Queensland, apparently the last one in the state but they could be lying to make me pay sooner…

  • +4

75QN85C is back in store on the Samsung store. Do an online chat to get a 15% discount code, I got one within minutes. It's $1995 on the Samsung website but with the 15% discount applies it brings it down to $1,695.75 and this comes with free delivery as well! Unfortunately I pulled the trigger to early with TGG as I thought the Samsung store no longer had stock because it was completely removed from their site. Oh well, still very happy with the TV. Hopefully this helps others out there!

    • Maybe be able to get another $100 if you recycle your old TV and it comes back in stock again.

    • Out of stock again so I'll keep monitoring stock. But they were only offering 10%, but I needed to send through a serial code of a Samsung TV or other product I own. Does that sound right? Or did I just get a dud online chat assistant? :/

      • +1

Unethical ozbargain tip; take a photo of the serial of a Samsung product when next at a retailer be it fridge, laundry machine (usually on the inside of the door), vacuum cleaner, etc.

      • I think it just all depends on who you are chatting to.

The agent asked me for my full name and my address so I am assuming he checked the database to see if I have any other Samsung products which I do. Maybe that's why I was given 15% instead of 10%. I did ask the agent for a 15% discount code though. Did you ask for any kind of discount code or did you ask for the 15% code specifically?
