How Do These People Even Have A Licence?

Dash Cam Owners Australia seems to be getting longer and worse by the week and it's making me feel uneasy that I'm sharing the roads with them.

Having mountain of patience and maximum awareness is not enough to keep you safe.

How can this happen? Should there be mandatory psych test with the whole attention deficit plague going on or China style road laws where everyone is subject to lesson and re-test all over again to discourage this behaviour.

Ive been told the trades register their cars as commercial vehicles and when they are busted by speed cameras, etc they don't nominate a driver and their business just cops the x5 fine without the demerits.

    • Everyone with a business does this. It's like $3.5k, which you can probably claim as a tax offset to boot.
      Laws are for the poors.

      • And no doubt the state revenue offices lobby the government to keep supporting this rort since it brings them in more money.

        • They should quadruple the fine if no driver nominated - more revenue if they don't want to own up

    • No wonder I see so many tradies, utes, SUVs driving fast and wreck less.

  • My old man told me once: if you are in a rush, just wake up earlier. I try no to drive rushing because then shit happens.

  • People with driver's licences may still not know all the road rules and not even pay attention when driving.

  • I reckon that dash cams are becoming more prolific in Australia so there are more idiots being captured by them.

The fact that DCOA has started a weekly compilation to me says they had too many submissions for just a monthly so had to expand. That and more YouTube $$ for them.

I reckon if you went along a line of parked cars now you’d count around 75% plus with a dash cam installed. 5-10 years ago maybe 50% or less. There’s a lot higher chance now of catching a d!ckhead driver with the higher percentage.

  • imo many people drive in automatic.. as if in a dream. They do not take driving seriously and hence not attentively.

Not sure it has gotten worse.

  • There are a lot of "hoon" drivers on my school street, why do they do it?
It is not like their cars are anything good.
They have some kind of mental disorder?

Would speed bumps help stop this?
If so, I will complain to the council.

  • More people have dash cams than before

  • Honestly it always seems to be Asians, elderly or tradies. The first two are usually blissfully unaware of the havoc and destruction they cause, and the latter just drives overly aggressive like they're late for their 12th smoko break.

  • I mean, somebody is making money while granting animals with right to drive.
Think about it, if Australia makes it hard to have a driver license like the EU, how the cops will meet their quota?

  • Thanks OP for bringing this up.

It's horrible to watch such accidents. Speechless.
What can we do more to improve and avoid such accident?
