No chains please (like McDonalds, KFC etc). Don't mind hearing about North/South options, lunch or dinner, take-away or dine-in.

Good cheap and cheerful place ~$20. Used to hit Takas Kitchen in the city too for lunch all the time, a few bucks cheaper, Japanese. Le Vietnam just up the road does stellar Bahn Mi too.
Current kJ/$ banger? I think it's the $5 chicken slop roll and chips from Chicken Treat followed by the $8.95 for two cheeseburgers meal at McDonald's.
On the opposite end, had a 3 course dinner at rockpool which was totally lame, thankfully wasn't me paying for dinner but seriously nothing to see here
hmm, even though i said no chains, the sentence in here about the chains was quality. i enjoyed: "kJ/$ banger" "slop roll and chips" "followed by"
oh wait, by 'followed by' did you mean that was the 2nd best value deal. i initially had pictured you eating chicken treat then heading to maccas to complete your meal.
rockpool which was totally lame, thankfully wasn't me paying for dinner but seriously nothing to see here
Agreed.
Rockpool is utter crap these days. It really has gone down hill from when it first opened.
Its just overpriced steak, nothing special.
Not to mention them charging $9 a head for mineral water which they don’t bother to top up or tell you they can top up (paid $54 for one bottle of water which was nice)
Ciao Italia South Perth - Traditional, tasty italian food with very generous servings
Good Value is different for everyone.
There are very very few places in Perth that I walk out thinking that was good value (at their normal price).
Below are / were my methods of getting cheaper eats :
I always apologise to family visiting from overseas for the food they will receive at the price they will pay.
fair comment. i am happy to hear opinions of what the writer considers to be a good value restaurant. the reader can ultimately form their own opinion. thanks!
Need a quality x quantity x price Venn diagram!
No chains please
Thats chainist!
Marcos Pizza in Joondanna. 10% discount if you pay in cash. $27 for a family size meatlovers feeds me and my partner for dinner, plus a slice or two left. It's one of those conveyor belt ovens rather than the proper wood/coal fired ovens, but its still very tasty and great value.
ATO has joined the chat
Sounds like a fancy kebab shop pizza really … so definitely ATO
For cheap eats, check out Two Hands Noodle Shop in Como
Lucky Chan's Northbridge
Newroz Kebabs in the city has pretty decently priced menu items and you get a pretty filling serving (their garlic sauce is VERY rich).
OEC Sushi in Joondalup is reasonably priced with servings that are just about the right size. Food and drinks are always excellent there.
Yumi Bento in Edgewater's prices are creeping up, but still alright. They're not too bad for Chinese-made Japanese food.
Little bao in Cannington. Twice cooked pork is great
Viet Hoa - Northbridge, Huge servings, although the pricing isn't quite what it used to be.
