The best saffron do come from Iran.
Might be the best but I'd rather not indirectly support an exporter of terrorism.
Interesting. Can you name any single terrorist from Iran?
@slickb: Saffron
@slickb: Yes, I can… Man Monis ;)
@foreverphoenix: Why are you negging? is it cuz I names one? lol
@slickb: Ask Ukrainians who are getting attacked by Iranian drones on regular basis
You're not… and stop being melodramatic Pauline Hanson
ps. if you read a little you wouldn't have made that comment
I know….I'm just stating the other obvious facts and not support Iranian regime with foreign currency to buy chips and equipment for production of drones & missiles being launched on Ukrainian cities by its friend Russia.
BTW I love Iranian people, their language (Farsi) and their culture. It's just a shame they have to live under evil authoritarian leadership. They were one of the most richest, modern and secular countries in Middle-east, prior to 1979.
I get what you're saying - but there's no link between the Safron industry and terrorism - at least nothing flagged by the US State Department - hence the permit to continue to trade and the export of certain products from that country. Despite a lot of the industries being state run by the brutal Sepah - this isn't one of them, and neither are the other farming industries. So I think it would be best not to conflate the the product with the country's politics.
Tech stuff, such as the purchase of drone equipment and technology on the other hand is another story and is an industry that is flagged by US and Australia
@foreverphoenix: Every dollar counts when it comes to foreign currency reserves of evil regimes. They use those dollars to buy foreign tech used in their drones and missiles.
@dealhunter52: Where did you get your credentials in International terrorism? Pauline Hanson Uni?
Go read a book or two before you speak on this topic. I'll help you out, read a few chapters on smart sanctions then have a go
There's no link between the regime and a farmer picking rare flowers for a spice
@dealhunter52: Oh and just to respond to your comment directly… yes, every dollar counts… true - but only if that dollar goes to their coffers. I don't think $50 matters (even if it did) when $6b gets released by the Biden admin in exchange for foreign 'hostages'.
Secondly and more importantly, I don't think Iran has relied on foreign tech for their drone and missile program in a while. They're now leading the drone tech and export that tech now. Iran now has the second best and most sophisticated drone program in the world (after US)… and their scientists were collaborating with universities around the world not to learn but to teach… personally, i'd be more concerned about this (https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/feb/14/academics-in-u…) than a farmer's dollar from a laborious process of obtaining a stigma of a rare flower going to the regime
@foreverphoenix: You seem to be either really naïve or just ignorant. Majority of the semiconductors used in Iranian drones come from Western countries through middlemen or businesses which help it evade sanctions.

Iran can't produce shit without western technology.
@dealhunter52: Forgot to respond… great, you made your point… well done… you still haven't answered my question though… how is this related to drones/regime? I don't see safron as an ingredient on the semiconductors or an active ingredient of a drone… and last I checked there wasn't a link between safron and the regime… you might wanna take your head out of paulinehanson's behind and smell the fresh air every now and then - stick to what you're good at - go back to stealing aboriginal land
@foreverphoenix: You are really slow….aren't you?
not support Iranian regime with foreign currency to buy chips and equipment for production of drones & missiles
Read the my first comment on this post, then learn how forex reserves work. Saffron or any other export of rogue nations helps them collect forex reserves to buy chips and equipment for production of drones & missiles
Here's something simple to start with.

Come back when you are competent enough. If you keep showing same immaturity, I won't respond.
Australian customs would have stopped the importation at the border if the government have issues with saffron funding whatever you though it funded… Mate I'm just trying to put bread on the table here, I don't see what your political views and ideology got to do with it. Do you make the same comments about products from a certain country that have been known to use force labour?
Why so expensive? These are like $1 in Iran.
Get another $1 for transport (in your bag in airplane)
Pay no custom (not applicable to Saffron as per Australian Custom).
You can sell for $3 a bag with 33% margin.
but let's entertain your logic… say I can fill my luggage with 100 of these 5g premium packs (they come in a metal tin, inside a cardboard box), before customs ping me for importing commercial quantities, and let's just say all the branding and packaging didn't cost anything, and I could get each unit for $1. So the product cost me $100.
Lets add return economy airfare of $2000, and budget accommodation, transport and meals while I'm there sourcing the product, another $500 (for 3 nights). That's $2600. Divide by 100 = $26 each… oh yes, I'm doing this for free because it doesn't cost me at least 3 days of flying over and 3 days in the country totalling 6 days.
Add the cost of running a business, an ecommerce website, company tax, payment processing fees, insurance, etc… you can probably now appreciate the cost of running a business…
Or you could pop down to coles or woolies and pay $14.90 for 0.25g ($596.00 per 10g!) - https://www.coles.com.au/product/masterfoods-pure-saffron-0.…
that's not how commercial importation and retailing work…
Price in title.
