You'll get people saying Yakuza 0, however it's a prequel that assumes you know of the characters already - I'd go Kiwami to 6 then back to 0 to get the full effects of it.
Yeah agree. Better to play them in the order they were released rather chronological order IMO.
Do Kiwami, Kiwami 2, Remastered Collection (3,4,5), 6 then 0.
Then move on to Judgment, Lost Judgment, then on to the various Like A Dragon games, then you'll probably be dead of old age :P
While Kiwami is a remake of 1, it's also been designed to act as a direct sequel to 0.
Hell no, they'd probably get burnt out before reaching what is one of the best in the series.
Id say Kiwami or 0 are where you want to start. Go 0 to Kiwami, or Kiwami to 0, then 2,3,4,5,6
Be aware than 3-5 have not been remade so gameplay/graphics wise it's a bit jarring to go from 2 to 3, and if you do decide to go through with the series, play 3 on the easiest difficulty. The rest you can play on normal or hard
0 absolutely doesn't assume you know the characters already.
Nah, having started on 0, it plays fine. Start chronological rather than order of release.
Especially with the changes they snuck into Kiwami.
Besides, if it assumed we knew who the characters were, why does the screen stop and the sound go DUNDUN and introduce their names each time a character appears? ;)
Interesting take but Y0 introduces the characters perfectly. Y0 is also the better game.

I hopped on this cheap Yakuza bandwagon.
Playing Kiwami 1 atm. I am really enjoying it a lot, but woah do I get lost in such a small city ! I keep not being able to find my objective and having to fight random yakuza goons lol >_<
By the time you're done with the series, you'll know Kamurocho so well you'll be able to walk around real life Kabukicho without a map!
