Nowadays we quite often come across issues with certain retailers or online stores not providing the product/service as per the industry standard. The most discussed way of resolution is to contact ACCC. I would like to know if anyone has ever tried to use ACCC for resolving the issue and were they successful or not ? Just trying to find out if ACCC is really helpful for resolving the issue or its just a card which customers can use to put pressure on the retailers.

True..even I thought so..i think their standard first response time is 28 days !!! They take 28 long days to just open your email!!

I made a complaint about fitness first a couple of years ago and they were very helpful. Fitness First were made to return all the money they had taken without my permission.

try small claims tribunale from your local state
they are the easiest way to get your case heard..
ACCC only deal with large transaction, e.g. fitness first with the amount of complaints they've had

I had a word with them when Big W cancelled an online order about 2 weeks after I had made it (sale item), 2 weeks is too long for a cooling off. ACCC were quite prompt, really nice on the phone and leaned on Big W to comply with their own conditions of sale.
Thats pretty quick..did you contact ACCC via email or phone?
I just did the online complaint.
I did the online form and they called back the same day.
I didn't expect they could do a lot since I was the one voiding the warranty :) but they gave some advice where I could go to
The ACCC will generally not act unless they get multiple complaints of a serious breach.
Single, individual complaints are often just noted and not acted upon.
