In Nz we got stuff like this going on atm

I was looking around at seem most plans in Aus are very Data limited, Why?

Seems all are data limited at the speeds then rate limited even on the expensive plans

Felix mobile is the only one I know with unlimited data, but capped to 20 Mbps.

    • Yeah just found that too.
But it seems very odd for none of your other networks to offer such

Belong data never runs out at a low cap.

Vodafone at a cap higher that Belong, described as infinite data.

    • Belong. $19 dollars a month unlimited. Capped at 1mbps after 5gb. 1mbps is 360p on youtube speed. Its ok. Only thing its annoying for is flicking through web pages with alot of high resolution photos in the one page. Like flicking through photos in realestate.com.au or something

I got uncapped gigabit at my dorm at uni. They had their own system to meter out data at like $15 per GB, but I discovered their system won't disconnect you if you are in the middle of downloading something. So I connected a router, connected my computer, and just left torrents downloading 24/7. Downloaded terabytes a month at full speed special uni broadband. So maybe if you live near some dorms you can do that.

    • Used to work next door to a Swinburne University campus, and used to leech off their data.

  • Pretty simple and obvious answer - greed. They can charge for it and know people will pay. Why make it cheap and unlimited?

    • Yea seems to be so same with NBN/Fiber stuff there :(

    • If it was as profitable and made you stand out from the market then someone, say Vodafone or one of the resellers, would offer it.

Ever heard of being in a big country?

San Marino has less internet congestion!

  • Because you can just get unlimited internet for pretty cheap at home?

I'm on a 200gb plan for a year for my phone and use up maybe 50gb in that time. If you have internet at home why would you ever need unlimited on your phone? Easy enough to get internet wherever you go if you live around a main city.
