Great game, very addictive. You can get it free on iOS if you have Netflix though I’d recommend playing with a controller if you do go the iOS route. I have had fun with it on the ipad, kind of tempted to get it on PC as well for some reason…

  • How's it on mouse keyboard been looking to get this and I got a free weekend

    • Better with a controller but still totally playable. Do it, it's a great timesink

Funnily enough, keyboard and mouse is the best way to beat the game at higher difficulty (high heat)

        • I haven't tried a controller but agree mouse and keyboard works pretty well. Basically trading off movement precision with aiming precision

It's serviceable on mkb and you're gonna be a bit more accurate with ranged weapons but the action can be so frantic that a controller is highly preferred… You do lose freedom of movement as a joystick would give you 360 degrees of movement whilst WASD can only do eight directions… And with the mouse, you might be clicking whilst moving back and forth to strafe and kite. So might make your wrist fatigue faster than usual (Carpal Tunnel, etc). Would say yes but definitely look at investing in a basic controller at least to save you in the long run.

    • It's fine with mouse and keyboard. I put ~200 hours into it without feeling limited. It probably just comes down to preference though.

Got this on my Switch. It was great at first but then it got really repetitive after 2hrs with no real progress. I've done the same runs 10 times now with no obvious progress. All "upgrades" are lost when you die, right? Only some character attributes remain. I must be playing this wrong. Good price though.

That's kinda like the point of a roguelike genre game. Upvoted to try and educate others though. The point is to keep going and earn the purple tears or other consumables which will allow you to start with perks and get better over time. The story is excellent too. When I won for the first time I was like 'Surely this can't be it…' But then learnt that you need to win multiple times at multiple difficulties to reveal the story.

Strictly speaking this is a roguelite due to the fact that there is some degree of persistent upgrades and such between runs. A true roguelike would have no upgrades or progress other than the knowledge and skill of the player.

All types are fun in their own way

        • Yes sorry my bad, roguelite is the correct genre.

You do get resources to upgrade the mirror. These will give you persistent upgrades like death resurrection, more damage, more casts, more dashes, and better RNG.

A lot of the fun is the different god boons powering up the different weapons.

    • I was disappointed too and only played for a few hours. But fans of arcade and roguelike games should love Hades.

    Dusa is a hottie.

  • Have this game on my switch. Love it so much i'm going to buy it again for my steam deck.

  • Good game, got about 25 hours of fun so far from it (and haven't finished it yet, but I'm getting close on the last few runs), worth it for me (paid around ~$18).

Hades 2 is "coming soon", suspect there are spoilers if you watch the trailer before finishing Hades 1.
